I had lunch at this restaurant today, and it turned into one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had. While I initially enjoyed the atmosphere, that quickly changed when I witnessed the manager/owner treating her employee with outrageous disrespect.
She raised her voice every time she spoke to him, used profanity, and even pulled on his shirt while commanding him to wipe the walls, despite it being a quiet time. It felt as though she was treating him like a slave.
Despite feeling scared, I approached the manager to express my concerns. I told her that her behavior was not okay and emphasized that everyone deserves to be treated with respect. All employees are normal human beings deserving of kindness, regardless of their role. While she apologized, the incident left me with a horrible feeling and made it difficult to enjoy my meal.
This behavior is unacceptable and creates a toxic environment for both employees and clients dining at the restaurant. We are not in China, and it’s not okay to treat people that way, regardless of where you are. The owner should feel grateful for having someone willing to work for them on a Sunday. I hope they take this feedback seriously and work towards creating a better atmosphere for everyone. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected at work, which is essential for a positive...
Read moreDelicious food in an atmosphere that will transport you to an old-movie Chinatown. There are quite a few tables indoors, which is tastefully decorated with traditional Chinese motives, including the music. That's without a doubt one of the highlights of Bamboo Inn. The food is also good. I had the daily menu (soup or salad, and one of three mains). The sweet and sour soup was delicious, the crispy beef was good too (not greasy, a common sin in some Chinese restaurants around the city). I only wished that the portion had been slightly larger. The price was fair (about 25 CHF) neither particularly cheap nor expensive for Zürich. The waitress was attentive and cordial. At lunch time it was relatively empty (but I was there right after the winter break, so it may be busier some other times). There were quite a few people who came for take out, an option to consider for next time.
Overall, a good quality, fair price Chinese restaurant with a unique atmosphere, but slightly...
Read moreI took my group's participants dined here last month. Ting Ting of Bamboo Inn was very cooperative by texting me details for my coach parking the day before we had lunch there.
Furthermore, they were so humble that they were willing to open the restaurant earlier for us due rain that whole day in ZRH (23 Jul).
As for the food, they presented such comfort food for us such as Chinese style steamed egg, fried fish, etc.. Real good food!
Thanks Ting Ting & the whole crew at Bamboo Inn Zurich 'n hope to see you...
