I booked two rooms through Expedia on a business trip on the 9th of November. In the morning of the 10th there was no heating or hot water and we had to shower cold. The phone in the room wasn't working either, so we had to go downstairs to ask what was happening. Upon talking to the lady at the reception she was rude and very unprofessional. Talking to the manager afterwards didn't do anything either because he said he could not accept our complaints and that we should complain via Expedia, which we did.
Expedia tried to contact the hotel manager for a partial refund and the hotel refused. I'm posting Expedia's response so everyone knows that if they ever have a problem in this hotel, the hotel will never ever try to solve it or help you, or even compensate you.
"Hello Célia,
We wanted to follow up after our last conversation, where you asked us to refund your booking and reach out to your property to see if refunding was possible.
We've contacted Hotel Limmathof to see if they could make an exception and grant a refund.
Unfortunately, after multiple tries, we weren't able to obtain an approval from the property manager to waive the cancellation fee. This means the current rules and restrictions for your booking apply and a refund can't be granted.
We're really sorry about this; we always try to contact suppliers and advocate for our travelers in these situations. Properties often have strict policies around refunds, and there's nothing more we can do in this case.
Again, we're sorry that a refund wasn't possible. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to us.
Regards,
" This is definitely a hotel to avoid at all costs. I got sick after had to shower cold in...
Read moreThe hotel was hard to find initially due to it being on a very busy corner in the heart of Zurich. We arrived early and although our room was not ready, we left our luggage in a secure locked room. My only concern with this was that the staff member working at the reception would hand you the key and the room was down the hall and there was nobody monitoring who was taking what and feel it wasn't very secure and too easy for your luggage to be stolen or for someone to go through it. That's something that they need to upgrade. The hotel had more of a hostel vibe although it said it wasn't. We had a quadruple room, 4 single beds with ample space. The room was basic, decor simple, bathroom was dated but it was very clean. The room access is by key and you are only given 1, that's also another feature that needs updated. There is an elevator but access from both the main hotel entrance and the rear entrance have a set of steps before you can get to the lift so it is not accessible for those in a wheelchair/powerchair or very limited ability. The staff were very friendly. The location is directly across the bridge from Zurich Bahnhof hb, the main train station, 5 mins walk to Bahnhofstrasse, the Polybahn is right next to the hotel main entrance as well as multiple trams and bus stops. It very centrally located and plenty shops, cafes, restaurants within walking distance. Zurich hotel prices are very expensive and feel what we paid for this hotel was highly i flated for the standard...
Read moreThe location was opposite Zurich Main Train Station at the Old Town, 5 mins of very easy walk. The hotel was facing the tram station but my room was not. Even though it was located at a busy part of town, my room was quiet and quiet and peaceful. A very suitable location for me who was touring around Switzerland and need to access Zurich Main Train Station easily.
According to the staff, some rooms have a view of River Limmat. The was two fleets or stairs before reaching the lift which brought me to my room on the upper floor but it was manageable for my husband.
The room was not modern but it was clean and neat, warm and comfortable. They allowed me to store my luggage after checking out. The staff did not have a kettle to lend me BUT he took the initiative to offer me a flask of hot water, adding that I could ask for a refill. There was no hair dryer in the room.
The staff was polite and warm enough. There is no breakfast but it was not a problem because Hitel Limmathif is surrounded by many restaurants and there are COOP and Migros nearby. It is very easy to get food. The hotel rate CHF for a room for 2 persons with an attached bathroom. Inexpensive and comfortable place for a budget traveler like me. The rare included free wifi and...
