Cucina Niederdorf — Restaurant in Zurich

Quite an awful excuse of a restaurant. I went for lunch with my girlfriend and the servers were ridiculously rude. We decided to ordered a soup to share before ordering more later. The servers, however, decided that was not good enough and kicked us out the restaurant because we didn’t want to order an entire three course meal right away. As we were leaving, the server even had the audacity to loudly announced that it was rude of us to even sit at their table. Just to preface, it was not the rush hour, the restaurant was barely a third full, and it was clear that they were not short on tables or servers.

I would give negative stars if possible.

The entire experience just screams insecurity by part of the restaurant. Seeing the other comments on here makes me think that this restaurant probably just make money by scamming tourists with their excessively expensive and mediocre products. Im honestly glad that we were kicked out so we didn’t have to waste our money, but the service for sure left a sour taste...

Eine sanfte Enttäuschung

Abendessen im Cucina Niederdorf. Nicht Pizza, sondern eine urtypische italienische Spezialität Scaloppine al Limone & Tagliatelle.ist gewünscht. Die weibliche Bedienung hält sich knapp mit Worten, legt die Speisekarte auf den Tisch und widmet sich, ohne Nachfrage was es zu trinken sein darf, wieder anderen Dingen. Das Restaurant ist mässig besetzt und ich kann nach längerer Zeit beim Kellner besagtes Menu mit einem Glas Rotwein bestellen. Der Teller wird wiederum von der Kellnerin serviert, von vorne über den Tisch gereicht, schlägt noch ein Glas an, fast um und verlässt den Tisch wieder ohne Worte. Guten Appetit Fehlanzeige oder wenn, dann nicht hörbar. 2Stück Kalbsschnitzel normale Grösse und ein aufgedrehtes Häufchen Tagliatelle mit 2 Zitronenscheiben. Die Sauce eher ein Zitronenguss in der Farbe, im Geschmack und auch in der Konsistenz. Die Schnitzel nicht zäh aber auch nicht zart, Bratenfondbestandteile Fehlanzeige, die Tagliatelle eher fade und geschmacklos, ein Schwenk in der Butterpfanne hätte da Wunder bewirkt. Das Ganze lässt sich mit einen stolzen Zürcherpreis von Fr. 39.50 (Essen ohne Getränke) abgelten. Der Kellner räumt ab und fragt nach ob es gut gewesen sei, ich relativiere und gebe zu bedenken, dass ich für den Preis mehr/besseres erwartet hätte. Der Kellner entschuldigt sich und erlässt 10% des Rechnungsbetrages.

Schade. Ich bezahle gerne für gutes Essen gutes Geld. Der Preisnachlass brachte mein Gaumen trotzdem nicht in Festlaune, im Gegenteil. Auch die (weibliche) Bedienung führte nicht gerade zur einem euphorischen Stimmungswechsel bei.

Nichtsdestotrotz werde ich es noch einmal versuchen, vielleicht waren es einfach nur bad vibes an...

I've eaten here several times over the years, and always had good food and good service. I've consistently found Dialog to be very child-friendly, and very accommodating towards family groups.

Despite visiting a number of times, I don't have a photo from here, and that's because the decor is very neutral, it doesn't stand out particularly. However in a busy shopping street in the tourist section of town it's a welcome change sometimes to find a neutral option.
