Osteria Borgo — Restaurant in Zurich

I truly do not understand how this restaurant can employ such rude wait staff. Our waitress was so condescending, belittling and outright uncalled for. I’ve never had a waitress speak with such aggression and that made me feel like I was bothering her, even though this was her job. When we ordered she made us feel stupid for the questions we asked, even though we knew nothing about the place or had simple questions like, do you offer vodka. Halfway through dinner, we never saw her again and had to order dessert through a different waitress, who also didn’t appear happy to be there. It gave us the thought that all our dinner experiences would be like this in the future, but they weren’t. Other restaurants we visited had very kind and nice waiters who were helpful and attentive. So I now know this restaurant has no excuse, especially since their food isn’t all that great. After dinner, the waitress returned and as my friend was paying for the tab, the waiter pressured her into tipping, and my friend being nervous under pressure, ended up tipping her 30 CHF. She tipped her around 20% and she literally made our whole experience unpleasant. Afterwards, I asked my friend why she tipped her that much, and she said it was because the waitress was staring down at her with judgement and held onto the payment machine the whole time, making her nervous. Don’t visit this place. Even if the food is somewhat good, the wait staff will literally eat up your joy and ruin your dinner, ruin your night and try to take you for as much money as they can....

Go somewhere else. It’s just not worth the money. The homemade pastas are alright, but presentation and amount of sauce aren’t. 3.50 per person to drink tap water. Bread presentation is nice. Bruschetta didn’t come with basil, and was bare tomato’s and burrata, no flavour and bread also was basic for the 12chf price. Ravioli comes with 7 pieces and very little sauce. Also not worth the price. Tiramisu is tiny and days old the cream is nearly hard, definitely don’t do that. They need to do much better for a spot in the middle of Zurich. Server didn’t know crodino, San Bitter or bitters at an italian restaurant and she had no recommendations to give on the menu. Training of staff needs to improve. Dog cookie or water not given to our dog but the other table’s dog received one just to add icing on the cake. Hope these specific details can help to improve other guest’s...

Love the ambiance of this italian restaurant! That’s what draw me to eat here in the first place, and they did not disappoint!

The interior is very warm and clean. Perfect if you’re having a date or just a dinner with your family. Perfect for special ocassion or just a casual night out with friends.

They have a cool wine dispenser too!

All the drinks were amazing. The dishes were all tasty too! I’ll add their names to the pics attached.

The price was also fair. It costed around 140 CHF for 4 people. I ordered 3 main dishes, 1 sides, 4 drinks.

I didn’t give them a 5 star because they changed the menu. I was actually planning to order something else when they told me that they changed the menu. 😢

Overall it was a good experience. Will definitely come back here on my next visit...
