Poffertjes Café — Restaurant in Datong District

Due to I’m very interested on traditional Dutch batter cakes called Poffertjes 荷蘭小鬆餅, so I give it a try even though I spent 2 hrs waiting for the que, without pre-booking on a Sunday brunch time.;)

I didn’t plan my routine during traveling, so I just walked in and scan for waiting list. There was a heavily rain in the Sunday morning. So I can’t walk far away from the cafe even though there is 15 numbers before me. I think I’m crazy. There is actually another branch 8 mins away which also full house in the Sunday brunch hours.

But, it’s worth for long waiting. I liked the resembling small and fluffy poffertjes. A small pancake made with yeast and buckwheat flour. I ordered the caramel flavor of poffertjes, it’s soft and incredibly delicious. I felt happiness after finishing the whole plate.

Besides, I was also trying black coffee and pasta with clams. The saltiness was just right, due to the fresh taste came from the Clams.

I won’t said the service is good or bad but the servers were very sincere and mindful. They will aware when to serve your dessert after meal. But the cafe’s ambience is quite noisy and very close to your next table, better don’t talk gossip loudly beside your “neighbour”.

I spent 40mins for my meals and take a move immediately because I noticed that there is still a que on waiting list. But, after lunch hours seem like more convenient to have...

This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants which I will not be tired of visiting cos almost every single of them will not be so bad that you wanna complain Recently they sold out of beef cuisines It’s a pity! If you are a cinnamon fan, you will love their cinnamon pancakes:))) It is the fried one and I was astonished by tasting just one bite hahaha I also highly recommended risotto, especially mushroom one (pls refer to the pic) BTW, please always call to reserve cos it’s always full and you might need to wait for 1 hour But it’s still fine cos They have another branch which is not far away from this branch. Visited the place on Saturday at 5 pm. There were no empty seats left, so we waited for another hour. They will call you once there's an empty seat available. Unfortunately, some of the menu items were already sold out because we came too late.

We ordered the original poffertjes and deep-fried poffertjes. I'm not a fan of buttery pancakes, but my companion is, and she said their poffertjes are great. Or maybe it's because mine were deep-fried? Double greasy, which could be the reason 🤔.

We also ordered the Ground Beef Roll Brunch, and it was really tasty. Though, out of all our orders, my favorite was the banana milk. It's not too sweet and really banana! Not like the commercial...
