I've seen this place many times while walking or driving in this area, but there was always a long line outside, so I've never had the chance to visit. Last week I was in this neighborhood a little later than usual and looking for lunch, and low and behold, the line was much shorter! I queued up, ordered the chicken leg rice which is served with miso/tofu soup, and I ordered a side of cabbage, and oh, my goodness is that a fantastic meal for an incredibly reasonable price! NT190/US6.
The chicken is as good as any Thai restaurant's (which is usually my choice of chicken if I want it fried), with succulent flavor and crispy skin, and served with a delicious bowl of rice which I topped with two spoons of their spicy sauce. The delightfully balanced miso soup and quickly sauteed cabbage with extra garlic and peppers were wonderful as well. On my second visit, I had the water spinach which was perfect, and I'm sure I'll be coming to this place for many years to come.
For this price, this is one of the most scrumptious and balanced meals anywhere, the service is quick and friendly, and the ambience warm and inviting. And remember, they've been doing this...
Read moreWhile staying at taichung we made an attempt to try the place. Seeing photo by others review with Michelin logo. So we went there, it took us a short wait to get us table. Table well set up with nice lay out. Took quick scan and notice probably around 40-50ish seats. Menu pretty simple. Breakdown to 4 kinds of main set(pork set, chicken set, fish set and beef set) And 4 kinds of main dish without the rice. And few vegetable side dishes. Fried Pork chop seasoned perfectly. Fried Chicken Maryland again simple but how come it so nice. Well I kept shaking my head because it is too nice. Fish come with gravy and bit of vege I believe it's kind of cabbage. This one also pretty top. Last one the beef. Also with gravy but some green. This one my least favourite. The only thing that bother me is why most of taiwanese people seems kinda a bit cranky when we cannt communicate with them in mandarin. We also experience same feeling...
Read moreMichelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. Specializes in their fried chicken. I found the food tasty but not something super special. Chicken was seasoned well and perfectly crispy with a very moist centre but not much different to the night market fried chicken down the street. The cucumbers are quite nice to cut the grease of the chicken and rice pairing, it gets difficult to eat so much friend chicken with rice in my opinion. The specialty kimchi was too sweet and nothing too special. The new marinated egg was tasty, but you can get a similar egg at seven eleven for half the price that tastes the same if not, more flavourful. The A Cai was stir fried very well, perfect amount of seasoning, spicy and Wok Hei. Miso soup is miso soup. Tastes like any other restaurant. Overall, we waited 20mins on a Tuesday at lunch time. It was worth it but I wouldn’t necessarily be...
