Mind-blowingly delicious! Every aspect of the meal was done perfectly, you can tell that the owner puts a lot of thought and care into each component of the meal and ingredients. Side dishes, free-flow miso soup and tea are provided free of charge. The side dishes were flavorful and the tea was refreshing. The miso soup was so tasty that it was addictive to drink and the amount of umami it had was incredible. We had the Matsusaka pork don (厚切豬排丼(厚切里肌)) - the meat was so tender and we loved the crispy garlic chips. All the flavours were well-balanced and seasoned perfectly.

Make sure to come early as they sell out fast! Even on a weekday night, the restaurant was full. We definitely want to come back here again the next time we are in Taichung. We think the 1-star reviews of this restaurant are not fair. The owner is friendly, and the restaurant is clearly in high demand. He just seems busy trying to run the restaurant and maintain the quality of his food, which we think is justified for how good...

So we came by at 5.30pm and were lucky to get seats for the first seating and didn't have to wait.

It is a one man show and it can be stressful, but really - the chef takes pride in his cooking.

We had the beef and eel don and they were good. The blend of rice/egg/meat/ sauce were just right.

The soup and appetizers were really good too.

This restaurant seats 11 so come early if you don't want to wait.

Warning - because it is small, I left with the smell of cooking...

Amazing food in a little shop in Taichung central district. The boss is a fantastic cook and he puts his heart into everything he makes.

The miso soup is complementary and it's super nice. He used charcoal smoked salmon for the soup base and it's fabulous.

We ordered three dons: the flounder, eel, and beef stew. The flounder is by far the best but everything was fantastic. Zero complaints.

The side dishes are also very good.

It's a tiny shop that sits maybe 8 people at the most. You can call ahead or do takeaways.
