Shan Shin Michelin Star Restaurant, Tucked away in a residential property, Shan Shin Restaurant boasts an unassuming facade, resembling a bungalow with a lush garden and cozy living space. Despite its modest appearance, this acclaimed eatery has garnered numerous awards since 2020.
Reservations are essential, as the dining and kitchen area on the ground floor is intimate. Upon arrival, staff warmly escort you to your table and outline house rules, including: Time limit for dining Minimum spending per person (NT$850)
With a modestly sized menu, we ordered five dishes, including: Fried soft shell crab Steamed vegetables Seasoned dry fish egg and pork mushroom
Each dish was expertly prepared and delicious.
What truly sets Shan Shin apart is its thoughtful celebration of special occasions. For birthdays, they present: A custom birthday dish A small birthday cake Gifts Lucky draw participation Personalized birthday banner Heartfelt birthday song
This attention to detail and warm hospitality left a lasting impression.
Overall, my experience at Shan Shin was pleasant, with outstanding cuisine and exceptional service. While the minimum spending requirement seemed unnecessary, the quality of the meal and unique birthday celebrations made up for it.

Read moreI think I have never been more disappointed with a dining experience. They present themselves online and with Google reviews as if it's a place that'll hit all your senses and leave a long lasting impact in your mind and mouth. I made online reservation for 5pm and when we arrived right on time a group of waitresses were eyeing us from a distance instead of greeting us so I had to go and remind them we have a reservation. They showed us to our table and quickly disappeared without a single explanation of their rather long menu or what's today's special and fish. We had to wait a while to wave one of them and the explanations were not really fully satisfactory either leaving a lot to be guesssed. We ordered a lot for a party of 3 adults and a toddler, total value 3400nt, every single food was bad. The only good thing about it was it came fast since we were the first and only customers. Pork knuckle, beef stew, taro, duck and taro mix deep fried, super expensive but super normal tasting boiled vegetables, cold rice and 160nt hot tea that's definitely Lipton breakfast tea were all simply horrible. You can find much better tasting, much warmer food, drinks, service at a fraction of the cost anywhere in Taiwan. Please don't go to this place as we did falling for the high Google reviews, those are either paid reviews or people lost sense of taste after the Covid. PS: Online reservation required 400nt per person...
Read moreWe visited Shan Shin during our workshop in Taichung with a group of twelve people and had a wonderful dining experience. Since we were twelve, we were able to try a wide variety of dishes, and everyone was fully satisfied. In particular, the Roasted Duck & Duck Bone Soup, Boiled Fish With Pickled Mustard, and Fish Maw and Crab Roe with Tofu Stew were outstanding and left a deep impression.
The manager kindly explained that some dishes may take longer to prepare, so it’s best to decide the menu in advance when making a reservation. We followed this advice and enjoyed a smooth dining experience within the 90-minute seating time.
All the staff were very kind and attentive, which made the experience even more pleasant. One more tip: if the in-app reservation system doesn’t work, you can also make a booking via LINE chat, and the staff responds very kindly.(@922gpxxr)
Although we couldn’t take many food photos because everything was enjoyed so quickly, the taste and service left a strong impression. Highly recommended for group dining and anyone who wants to enjoy authentic and creative...
