Chilldren — Restaurant in Tainan

A fusion restaurant combining Asian and European flavors, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet expectations. The dishes lacked the usual balance and depth of flavor found elsewhere in Taiwan, and it was one of the very few places to add a 10% service charge.

Ordering is done via an order sheet, but unfortunately, I misinterpreted the labelling meaning I selected “BBQ Lamb on Rice”, ticked the vegan box and also mentioning vegan verbally when handing over the order card - thinking it would get adjusted to vegan. However, the dish was served vegetarian with egg etc. as the dish apparently can’t be made vegan.

Considering the added service charge (which is quite uncommon in Taiwan), I would have expected the staff to confirm if I wanted to change my order to a vegan-friendly dish or if I indeed wanted the the selected dish even if not vegan — an important detail that would have made the experience feel more attentive and...

The restaurant looked nice but they didn't offer that much to a vegan customer even though it says "vegan hai" on the very Western title of the joint. Some of the portions were possible to change to vegan friendly though. The food tasted good in general. The place is quite expensive and the (Japanese?) music they played was nervewreckingly loud. As I asked them politely to turn it down a bit they did it without hesitation. There is a nice little lounge where you can play SNES on a old tube TV which is a cool nostalgic touch. Way overpriced and bad service. Restaurant was not busy but took super long for the food to arrive. Than the fork was missing, needed to wait again. My soda was not deliverd by beginning of the meal so I asked for it again. When I was finished eating they brought the soda... Would not recommend going there and will not go again. Taste of the pasta funghi was not bad but not worth 380 for pasta, there were 5 tiny little mushrooms in the truffle fungi pasta. It's like the gold on the pasta is justifing the price.... The soda for 120 was nice.
