I work from many cafes in Taipei and usually bring both a monitor and laptop. I’ve always had amazing experiences because I find people extremely thoughtful and kind at the cafes I usually work from…until this one.

Today, I was seated at the bar between two other customers and made a conscious effort to not take up too much space by stacking the edges of my devices. Despite this, when my order was finally delivered (after a considerable wait, which I didn’t mind), the woman/owner (?) made a point to tell me not to take up too much space and be considerate of the customers beside me. I found this rude and unnecessary, especially since I was already being mindful and made a point to check that they have enough space. Most cafes would ask if need a bigger table. This is a good place to work, with no time limit on weekdays. The second floor is quieter than the first floor. Speaking quietly on the first floor is okay.
