Hunt Taipei — Restaurant in Taipei

By far one of the friendliest establishments I’ve had the pleasure of visiting!

My husband and I (Chinese and White) had a really fantastic time visiting Hunt on three separate occasions on our trip to Taipei. There were plenty of locals and foreigners ready to mingle, and it had a great mix of personalities and body types. We also went to the famed “small towel” party and had a lot of fun. We made friends with some of the bartenders on a quiet night and played games with them while drinking and mingling with other patrons. They remembered us from the nights before and one of them even recognized us on the streets in Ximen and came to say hi!

Pros: fun theme nights like small towel night where 100+ guys wearing only a towel and drinking are free to mingle. What could go wrong? Cons: it’s not a big space and they designed the bar area in an inconvenient way. You (and maybe 30+ others) must line up in a corner to show your wristband and order. Then you’re supposed to push your way out to get your drink farther down the bar. It was my 1st time so I didn’t know the system. After waiting 10 minutes at the bar the bartender rudely informed me I had to go to the other end. I’ve been in Taiwan 3+ years - I know the difference between Taiwan-blunt and rude. This bar is amazing! The drink names are hilarious, the drinks themselves are STRONG and delicious, and the bartenders are so incredibly nice! Our group of 8 American/European tourists came in on a Tuesday night and were immediately presented with digital menus with English translations. They have every cocktail/liquor you could want and quite a few original creations, including an Absinthe section. They brought our large group two rounds of shots on the house!
