Sawadica — Restaurant in Zhongshan District

I arrived here on Friday night after 9 pm, so it was pretty empty. My partner and I ordered vermicelli with shrimp, green curry, and papaya salad. When the papaya salad arrived, I squeezed lime onto it and then noticed an orange hair. I called the waiter over, and they took it back to the kitchen. Within 2 minutes, they returned with the same dish. We asked if they had changed it, and the supervisor/manager confirmed they had. However, upon tasting the new dish, I noticed the dish was missing a lime, and I could still taste lime from the papaya salad 😂😂.

I asked the supervisor/manager if we could cancel, and he obliged. After about 20 minutes, he returned with some dessert, saying it was on the house.

In terms of food, it was delicious. Both the vermicelli and green curry were tasty. However, the service was disappointing. This restaurant costs 50%+ more than other Thai restaurants, so I believe it’s reasonable to expect higher standards.

While I understand accidents happen, I was disappointed with how it was handled. I recommend the owner establish a standard operating procedure for when a dish is returned or has ‘extra ingredients.’ A better approach could have been: A. Making a new dish upon finding foreign objects. (Waiving the fee for the new dish would be even better for the inconvenience caused) B. Waiving the service fee C. Offering us a dessert of our choice from the menu instead of leftovers due to be discarded

The environment is modern and clean, there are several VIP rooms but they are narrow and not very big. Time between dishes is a bit slow, the service can be improved. Please understand that some of the servers are Thai so they don’t speak Mandarin very well.

Had our New Year dinner here and the overall experience was excellent. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The main dishes we ordered were fantastic. The deep fried fish with tamarind sauce was a 10/10 as well as the seafood curry—it’s served in a coconut which was a pleasant experience. My one complaint was the pandan cake. It could (1) have more pandan flavor and (2) less of the distinct taste and odor of bamboo shoot, which I’m personally not a fan of.
