Wenting Hot Pot was great! While waiting you can dress up in the costumes that they have available. They also have a bunch of other services that I haven't seen at other places! There is a massage chair (must reserve), nail salon, Haggen Dazs ice cream bar (tasty), magician, Chinese mask show, and a few other things. I missed half of them because I didn't remember to ask. I really wanted to see some magic.
Upon walking in tea and snack are available for you while you wait!
They give you tablets to order you food and it's available in multiple languages like English, Japanese and Korean.
The overall meal was pretty tasty. We got the meal set for 4 people (there were 3 of us) since the price was only 400NTD more than the 2 person set. With unlimited tea refills, the whole thing was about 2400 NTD.
We got the half and half soups. The spicy soup was too much. It had those szichuan numbing spices that were extreme. My first bite of food from the spicy side I started coughing.
There is no additional costs for the nails, massage chairs, costumes and other services.
My favorite thing about their poster is the kid's playroom. If you look closely, there is one kid just getting destroyed in it. That was a one-take photoshoot.
Hot Tip: If you just want to go and enjoy their services for cheap, go between 11:30am and 4pm. Just order the basic 220NTD beef noodle soup. That will get you access to...
Read moreFunny concept - palace themed steamboat restaurant? The steamboat pot is pretty intricate. So were the ladles and the cups they served the iced lychee smoothie drink.
They charge and entry fee of NTD188 (if I remember correctly). It’s a mandatory charge but you’re entitled to free flow sauce from the sauce bar and Haagen Dazs ice cream. There were many flavours - including Rum and Raisin, Chocolate, Matcha.
The Surf and Turf set was super great value. They had 3 different types of paste (scallop, prawn and squid?), a whole plate of beef, seafood which included 2 types of fish, clams, scallops, 2 types of prawns. There was also a basket of vegetables, youtiao, wantons, and different meatballs.
Was super impressed by how much variety we were given - in SG, you will never be able to get that much food with the amount of money we paid.
Service was alright - nothing much to say.
We got a reservation on 元宵节 (last day of the Lunar New Year) for 8.30pm and when people walked in, they said they’d have to wait till like 10pm or...
Read moreWe came at 8pm and were told we could eat for two hours. There's not enough staffs to help you with ordering and to explain the menu so we wasted about half an hour to just get to know the basic procedure and have things set up properly. When the hotpot came, the staff forgot to turn on the oven so nothing happened ! Gosh. That's bad. We don't mind to be honest as we just wanted to enjoy ourselves relaxingly on a Friday evening. But shortly before 10pm , the manager came with the bill without us asking. In fact we just ordered a beer and a drink which had not yet come. He said would give us additional 15 minutes after 10pm. Woah! We didn't think he meant serious but indeed they came again at 10:15pm sharp to let us know time was up. (Our beer hardly finished. ) The restaurant was only serving a few tables at the time and there're no new customers. The official hours were until midnight. I don't understand but this is typical of taiwanese service. Very rigid and not customer oriented. It destroyed the...
