Hotelshere - ximen — Hotel in Taipei

I was skeptical after reading the reviews and no luck cancelling the booking. So I decided(had) to give it a try. Well it ended up no too bad after all. The check-in time was after 4pm. Staff on site from 12pm till 7pm. They were obviously shorthanded during the time of my stay, but the girl who workded there(only one staff) obviously was doing the best she could accommodated customers' need. And she was even kind enough to exchange currency with us since the banks were not opened during the weekends(and you have to exchange currency at the banks in TW, which was different than a lot of other countries. The location is very good at about five minutes or less from the train station. The front desk is friendly and fluent enough in English. The physical facilities were disappointing. For example, there is a hole in the wall above over of the beds, there are multiple stains on the walls, and there was someone else's hair on the bathroom shower wall. When walking to my room, I could smell smoke in the hallway (I think some people were smoking in their rooms) and the hallway carpet has old gum and other dirt embedded. Great location for ximen. Clean and comfortable room for a family of 4. But everything is a bit dated. Nice and pleasant front desk assistance during our stay. Big issue is how thin the walls are. You can literally hear every word from the other side of the wall. So you better hope you are not next to a group of party goers...
