Unpleasant experience.
The staff getting us seats at ground floor literally FROWNED when she saw our toddler. They told us to go up to the 3rd floor. When we reached the 2nd floor, a table was available and I asked the staff if we could take that instead of climbing another flight of steep stairs. He ignored and just said to go up.
The 4 staff working at Level 3 was just terrible beyond words. Unwelcoming and obnoxious.
Gave us a dirty high chair with LOTS OF STAINS and refused to change for us. I asked for extra ginger 4 times and it was not even served after we settled the bill. Requested a refill of the tea and the female server kept asking us to WAIT and never got back as well.
We asked to speak to the manager and what coincidence the manager was on leave that day?
They were not apologetic for any service lapse or even for their terrible attitude.
Food was below expectations made worse by the bad service.
It was recommended by our local friends however with such distasteful experience, we are never...
Read moreThe location is good in Xi Men district As a fan of Japanese food. This place is okay and not a place I would go back.
A couple reasons I gave 2 stars. Food Order - we ordered food by checking the menu on the paper. There is one I make sure I didn’t order but it seems someone did it. It was a big deal since the price was not expensive. But it seems unfair to the customer.
Review - one of the staff asked my partner to scan the barcode on the table after we placed orders. It was actually the link to leave a Google review. I think it could be better if they ask after the service atleast we could experience how good the service and food is.
Food - was okay. Lot of Mayonnaise on my salad. I only had the prawns and sashimi.
Good side about this restaurant They gave a complimentary appetizer for my partner 5 stars review at the beginning

Read moreI had a wonderful experience here at Mei Guan Yuan locates in the centre of XiMen Ding - it is known as once of the oldest Japanese restaurants in Taipei! We came in a party of 4 at around 7.30pm which I reckon it’s a peak hour to have dinner as the restaurant was pretty crowded considering it has a ground and first floor. The store is pretty store but I’d say it’s pretty clean. As we’ve made a reservation, we were shown to our table upon arrival.
We’ve ordered a number of dishes - salmon sashimi donburi, salmon fried rice, sea urchin in a roll, Taiwanese veggies, chawanmushi (steamed egg with a prawn as topping), panfried beef, etc. Once you’ve ordered dishes worth an amount of money, the store will give you a complimentary dish - I believe it somewhat tastes like an abalone,...
