A Ramen Revelation at Nagi Ramen, Ximending In the bustling heart of Taipei’s Ximending district, a true culinary gem awaits. Nagi Ramen, a name already familiar to many a noodle enthusiast, stands out not just as a reliable choice, but as a destination for a truly exceptional bowl of ramen. My quest for the perfect slurp has taken me to countless establishments, even across the waters to Japan, and I can confidently say that Nagi Ramen in Ximending delivers a bowl that is not only delicious but genuinely rivals some of the best I've tasted globally.
From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The space is immaculately clean, creating a sense of comfort and a promise of a well-cared-for meal. It’s a perfect little haven away from the lively energy of Ximending’s streets, a place where you can relax and truly savor the moment.
Now, for the main event: the ramen. It's a culinary masterpiece. The broth is the star of the show, a rich, deeply flavorful concoction that is both complex and perfectly balanced. Each spoonful is a revelation, a testament to the chef’s meticulous craftsmanship. The noodles, with their ideal texture and springy bite, are the perfect vehicle for this incredible broth. The portions are generous, leaving you with a deep sense of satisfaction without feeling overwhelmed. It’s clear that a tremendous amount of care and skill goes into every bowl, a dedication that shines through in every single element.
The service at Nagi Ramen is another highlight. Despite the high volume of customers, especially during peak hours, the staff remains incredibly friendly and efficient. The wait for your food is surprisingly short, a welcome relief in a city where popular spots often come with long queues and even longer waits. This seamless operation adds to the overall positive dining experience, making it a place you can rely on for a quick, yet incredibly satisfying, meal.
In terms of value, Nagi Ramen is on par with other high-quality Japanese ramen spots in the city. However, its prime location near the MRT station and the vibrant downtown area sets it apart. The convenience of being able to enjoy such a fantastic meal and then immediately dive back into the shopping and entertainment that Ximending offers is an undeniable bonus. It’s more than just a meal; it’s an integrated part of a great outing.
Verdict:
I wholeheartedly recommend Nagi Ramen’s Ximending branch. Its consistent quality, from the divine broth to the perfectly cooked noodles, sets it apart as a true standout. The combination of a fantastic culinary experience with a cozy atmosphere and efficient service makes it an ideal spot for anyone seeking a truly satisfying and memorable ramen meal. Whether you are a local ramen aficionado or a traveler looking for an authentic and delicious bowl, Nagi Ramen in Ximending is a must-visit...

It's located on the 6th floor, accessed via elevators next to uniqlo. Staff were friendly. There's often a line, which there was one even when I went at 8PM. I didn't wait long though and you get to prepare your order while waiting.
I got the squid ink tonkatsu ramen with normal seasonings, low chili, cabbage instead of spring onions, and pork belly instead of pork shoulder, with firm thin noodles and tamago add on.
The broth was fantastic, very fragrant and full of umami. If I could tone down the saltiness I would finish drinking the broth but it makes eating the noodles very enjoyable. Speaking of which the noodles were cooked perfectly with a little bite as ordered. The tamago was marinated very nicely but unfortunately with an overcooked yolk. Make sure to dunk the meat into the broth for a min before eating as one of the pork belly pieces I bit into was quite cold. Otherwise the flavour was nice.
You can order extra noodles (kaidama) cooked to your liking if you have the appetite and there's plenty of broth to accommodate that.
Overall a nice go to spot for a quick fix of ramen when in the area and I...

We went during non-peak hour & had the entire table for 6 to ourselves. Restaurant was able to accommodate stroller/ wheelchair at the table. Staffs were efficient & friendly. Very patient in explaining the menu. To add some freshness to the menu, the restaurant comes up with a weekly limited edition ramen. This week, they had spicy minced beef with pickled vegetables ramen. Unfortunately for their weekly special, no customization is allowed.
Straight forward menu. Only 4 items on the menu. 2 spicy; 2 non-spicy. Choose your soup base & adjust the ingredients/ condiments based on individual preference. Sides (pepper-salt beansprout & spicy pickled vegetables)are available on the table to add-on. Condiments (grind sesame, vinegar) are available to add to taste.
We find the soup a tad too salty for us. Other than that, everything else was wonderful. For ramen, price is on the high side. However, it is a good bowl...
