3.5 stars for the food and 1 star for the service which they have lots of room for improvements!
I’ve tried most of their food already since their menu is very very small. Hand made pasta, sadly, I only enjoyed their squash ravioli. Their salads were simple yet delicious and well presented. Their pizzas were light and well balanced though I wished they added more fresh basil on their Margherita pizza which would definitely lighten up the last few bites into their crust.
I do need to emphasize their ingredients are fresh and well put together for the given price. However, I wished they had more items to offer especially for a full sized kitchen which I don’t think they’ve fully put it to use.
Just like other reviews, their overall service was awful. I asked for my carrot cake and apple pie to come last after we are finish with our entrees. Surprisingly, it came right after our pizza which at that time our table was already packed with other dishes. I had to finish the apple pie first since there was an ice cream on it which then ruined my entire appetite. Waving down a server was another challenge since all of them would gather either at the bar or cashier booth. Not too sure if they wanted to give their customers more privacy instead of invading our space. Credits to new cutleries for each dish but would have been better if they placed it on the table firmly instead of rattling the cutleries on the plate. Great job keeping the tables sanitized with alcohol but perhaps spraying it away or onto a cloth instead of fuming it into the air and which I doubt most of it landed in our food...
Despite a 3 star, I still highly recommend trying out this restaurant as it deserves a second chance and I believe all the chefs and servers are really passionate and dedicated...
Read moreGREAT FOOD. POOR SERVICE! We book a table for 6 people at 8pm on a Friday night. Was a little surprised it was was not full as heard great reviews of the food which was pretty good and tasty - we all shared a pizza and salad as an appetizer. Nice reasonably priced red wine to go with our pasta mains.
However , like many other reviews , the service and overall attitude leaves a lot for improvement. After just 40 miniutes at the table and with mains just barely arriving , we are asked if we want any deserts! I reply we may and please leave us with the menu. But no ! We need to order right now as the kitchen will close! I point out that they are all premade and maybe some need heating up or ice cream adding only - hardly requiring a chef to prepare. She insists now or never ( I ask if the staff are all departing also at 9pm and leaving us alone!) . We order anyway and as with the rest of the food pretty tasty! When they arrive , I ask for an espresso only to be told that the machine is switched off and has been cleaned ready for tomorrow! What? A coffee with desert is not available at the end of the meal in a restaurant serving western modern Italian food?
I know it is in the 101 mall but there is zero need to feel like we are being forced to complete our meal after just 40 minutes of arrival - pity as it make me less inclined to return or recommend as there are plenty of other similar places in Taipei competing for...
Read moreIt took a while to get a reservation for this place, it's been pretty hyped on social media. It was worth the visit...mostly.
It got off to a bad start because they gave away the table we reserved 4 weeks prior because we were 12 minutes late and they only held reservations for 10 minutes. They did seat us at a shared table, and it was fine. But it was frustrating that there were many empty tables that didn't get filled during the entire time we were there.
It got better with the food. We got the fig and ricotta toast, and it was the perfect combination of flavors and textures. The toasted hazlenuts on top was an inspired choice. The burrata panzanella and chicken chipotle salad were both good. I was especially excited for the warm octopus salad - the sauce, the octopus cooked to perfection and the flavors were all great. Unfortunately the potatoes were in varying states of being uncooked with a couple of pieces being straight up crunchy. This lack of attention to detail is disappointing, especially since it made a dish that could have been amazing, not so great. For the price, except for the fig ricotta toast, nothing was particularly brilliant. The warm octopus salad could have been, but wasn't. It's definitely a nice enough place to go once. I found their baked section more interesting than...
