This coffee shop has a really interesting vibe—mainly industrial, but with a touch of warmth mixed in. I didn’t feel like having coffee that day, so I ordered a hot hojicha latte, while my friend got an iced latte. She said her latte was decent. My hojicha latte came with an adorable doggie face-shaped latte art, which was super cute, but the tea flavor was a bit weak. It was okay, but next time, I’d probably go for coffee instead.

For desserts, they have a cake of the day, which you can check out at the counter. I was curious to try their 伯爵紅茶蛋糕 (Earl Grey cake with cream on top) since I hadn’t seen this kind of cake elsewhere before. It had a strong Earl Grey tea flavor and aroma, which I really enjoyed. The cream complemented the cake nicely, and the flavors were smooth and satisfying.

Basque cheesecake was lovely too. Smooth, creamy, perfectly sweet with a nice cheesy balance. Dreamy texture, fair price, and came in cute takeaway packaging.

The seating arrangement is quite nice too. They have a small book corner, and the way they arrange the seats is pretty cute, especially for small groups. The outdoor area is also really chill—when I visited, there was a big group of six or seven people casually sipping coffee outside, which made the place feel like a great spot to hang...

You know those places where you instantly feel at ease? Basis Coffee is that kind of spot. It’s a small, cozy café with genuinely hospitable keepers who make you feel looked after.

While the Brown Sugar Iced Latte didn’t wow me, their tea was absolutely beautiful — delicate and calming. The whole atmosphere is quiet yet inviting, even the guest chatter stays soft, like everyone’s in on the vibe.

Disclaimer: I got to know this joint because of the movie and did some research about their F&B choices to sample before flying back home in the evening. The humble quaint setting didn’t disappoint at all. Mainly dessert items and coffee, which I had to order one from each category. For someone who isn’t a big fan of pudding, the matcha flavored with azuki beans is a hit! Sweetened pudding balances off with the beans well. The cinnamon roll is as original as it can be. Lightly toasted and its crisp remains even after I intentionally left it aside to cool. I’m sold, and will try it next time without the maple sauce. The espresso Romano was a hit and miss for me, with their choice of sparkling lemonade. Oh, pay them a visit during off-peak of the day to fully immerse in the atmosphere.
