Pretty poor overall experience. Firstly it was frowned upon that I turned up at a restaurant without a reservation by the front of house staff, how dare I.... I was first told maybe they cannot fit me, the venue was busy but I could see quite a few 2 seater tables dotted around, I was given a table with no wait, unnecessary frosty reception. I was seated right at the back by the toilet in what was pretty much an alley way to the kitchen. I asked to move but the front of house ignored this. As it was busy I asked the server if there was a wait on food as at this point I was considering leaving they told me up to 20 minutes, again a frosty and not well received response, as if I was in the wrong for asking such a question. The whole order experience was again pretty unfriendly from the server. Food arrived fairly quickly in less than 15 minutes, was pretty much thrown onto my table, I appreciate they were busy but a little bit of personable care would go a long way here. Coconut prawns had no taste and certainly no coconut flavour and were left in the fryer too long. Massaman curry was ok, but for £13 it was a fairly pathetic portion considering rice was not included, 2 Half's of a new potato in the dish was as said awfully portioned. After my meal I wasn't offered anything else and was just thrown the bill pretty soon after my plate was cleared, I had a voucher so asked to have the voucher cost removed and the server went away to do so without a reply or acknowledgement. As listed on the bill optional service charge was also automatically added to my bill which I paid, rather than having to deal with the un-friendly waitress and ask them to remove the charge. All in all, not authentic tasting, not even good tasting, I think you'd get a better curry from the M&S microwave section, for a 3rd of the cost and not have to deal with unfriendly staff along the way who seemed to just want to get the next set of cash through the door. Lesson learnt, don't go somewhere because of a voucher, plenty of other Thai restaurants in the Bath which I'm sure are way better, better priced and more authentic.

Poor allergy management! (The below is a complaint from August that still has not been responded to). the allergy menu for drinks on the website is wrong. it flags up nuts for all cocktails. another member of our party had a soy allergy we notified the team as we were seated and used the scanned allergy menu and reminded our waiter when we ordered. when the food was brought out another waitress told us that the dish maybe marinated in soy sauce and that we should have told the staff about an allergy. she went to check in the kitchen and came but and said it was soy free however at the point we had lost our confidence in the restaurants allergy handling and the affected party was uncomfortable eating the dish, we explained this to our waiter and he was ok. 5 mins later a lady who we assume was Yh manger came out and explained the dish was fine and that we should use the allergy next time when we explained we did everything correct she raised her voice (other tables looked on at the altercation) and argued with all 5 of use that we were in the wrong and as a restaurant they take allergies seriously. unfortunately this clearly is not the case as she did not have a word with the waitress who misinformed us but at the customers. the dish was eventually taken away and not included in our bill. we continued the night with a second dinner at giggling squid where the member with the soy allergy was able eat a soy free meal with confidence as it came out with an allergy flag. also some ordered a drink it didn’t come out so we chase it up and they said ohh yeah we don’t have any they didn’t think to inform us. overall poor dining experience which is a shame as I have eaten here previously and enjoyed the experience

The meal was nice, although I think £8 for 3 spring rolls is expensive and why not give 4 🤷🏼♂️ I'd paid for the chicken ones but they didn't taste of chicken and the texture showed no signs of meat so may as well have had the veg ones which are slightly cheaper. The main was nice and tasty but again over priced £13 for a chicken Thai red curry and an extra £4.50 for the Jasmine boiled rice so £17.50, dessert I had the cheese cake it was nice but small (£6.50) overall I enjoyed the meal and the service was fast and efficient. The main reason for my low score is....... I asked for my bill, I was given it, I glanced at everything i had eaten it all there and looked ok so I paid, thanked the person who served me and left. It was only later when I looked at the receipt again I saw I'd been charged an ' Optional 10% service charge' £5.10 on a meal costing £39 (excluding 2 drinks pints of cider costing £6 something each) how is this optional if I was never asked or even informed it had been added when handed the bill. So look out for this, I've never encountered this before when eating out but will be checking from now on......tips should be given if felt deserved and they weren't on this occasion, I got standard service and the food was ok & nice but you paid for it.

A recreation of an authentic Thai marketplace, sometime shadowy, other times bright with interesting 'buts of stuff' in every nook and cranny and available space on the ceiling and walls. Creates a great atmosphere. We'd book for a table at 3 pm, however checked in at 1.30 as it was raining hard and shopping was not enjoyable. Most welcoming were the staff who accommodated us with charm. Drinks ordered and then to the menu. Nibbles required (prawn crackers and sweet chilli sauce) as each dish offered had to be poured over, discussed and compared, such were the wonderful number of options and choices. We decided not to have the starters but went straight to the main courses. Beef, duck and prawns, in either noodles, with peppers, onions and chilli, or salad and sticky rice. What a treat. No harsh staining from excess chilli or spices but a rich tasting, flavoursome, well balanced and delicious lunch that was clearly crafted by chefs who know their stuff. Table was waited upon by three or more assistants, all of who were polite,.gracious and enhanced our experience. I am really looking forward to my next opportunity to visit. This was a great experience. Thank you.

Although the interior design is fantastic and aside the good previous experience we had with Thai food, I would not say that I really enjoyed this one. The portions were reasonable and the presentation pretty good. However, the service and the food taste were below average. We were waiting for more than 45 minutes to get the mains, with only three tables being occupied in the whole restaurant at the time. Which means that we had probably been forgotten and when we complained, the food was finally served. Having tasted a number of UK Thai food chains and also traditional restaurants, this food was too oily and the flavours did not match at all. The pad thai with the prawns was overcooked and the minced chicken had a fishy flavour! The chicken curry was quite alright to be honest. When we had a chat with locals and told them about Thaikhun, their facial expression was self-explanatory. It was not the right choice for a dinner. I would not have given this rating if the manager had the reflexes to understand what went wrong and grabbed the opportunity to at least speak to us and explain why this had occurred...

🌿🇹🇭 A Taste of Thailand in the Heart of Bath 🇹🇭🌿 Step off the cobbled streets of ancient Bath and bam!—you’re in Bangkok. Thaikhun isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a full-blown Thai street scene. From the Tuk Tuk parked proudly at the door to the riot of colour and quirky Thai objets d’art (ของตกแต่งบ้าน – khǎawng tòk-dtàaeng bâan, if you’re asking!), every inch hums with energy and authenticity. You might think it’s all flash and fairy lights—but no. The real star here is the food. Street-kitchen style, bold and packed with those proper Thai flavours I know and love from years of travel in the motherland. Tempura prawns? Crispy perfection. Thai green curry? Fragrant, fiery and full of punch. And let’s not forget the Singha on draft—ice cold, just like in the backstreets of Chiang Mai. The team? Mostly Thai or Southeast Asian, full of warmth and those famously genuine smiles that make you feel right at home. Loved every bite, every detail. Khàawp khun mâak kha, Thaikhun — I’ll be back for another round of flavour, fun, and a little slice of Thailand in Bath. 🌶️🛺🍤
