22/02 2018 update.
Was so good when I first visited that I had to pay another visit before leaving Bangkok.
This time we tried the dried shrimp salad which was the star of the show, brown duck in garlic, couldn’t not have the bitter melon soup again, plate of fried pork, stir fried morning glory and rice.
Can’t fault them really very well executed. Truly excellent, chicken winter melon soup, stir fried morning glory, duck with holy basil, crispy pork.
Everything perfectly seasoned
I have to say, my highlight was the chicken and winter melon soup, it had so much body and depth of flavour, the chicken drumstick was fall of the bone tender, the winter melon also perfectly cooked.
All in all a very well executed meal, I only wish I could have managed to eat more.
The service was excellent despite being busy, a lovely atmosphere in a unique setting.
Our waiter spoke good enough English and the menu was in Thai, English and Chinese with pictures of the dishes.
I would class this a place well worth...

The stir-fried dishes had a noticeable oily taste, the fried fish was chewy instead of crispy and not freshly made, and the braised duck offal was overcooked to the point where the outer layer, including the egg white, became tough and grainy. The staff mentioned that everything was made fresh, but it really didn’t taste that way.
Even their signature dish, the steamed minced pork with salted egg, was not as flavorful as I had hoped. Overall, nothing really stood out in a good way.
Another thing to note is the extra charge for air-conditioned seating. When we arrived, the staff gestured for us to sit inside, but there was no visible sign mentioning an additional fee. It wasn’t a huge amount, but it would have been better if it was clearly communicated.
It wasn’t a great experience, and I personally wouldn’t...
Read moreThis shop is across the famous Royal Thai temple Wat Bowon Niwet. It provides a lot of homey dishes and congee. It is located between the space of a Royal-patroned Buddhist studies center and a heritage house "Baan Pham Thom". Mostly in open air, and in-room space seems closed now. The interior space is larger than outside. Go inside and have a look! Opens since 5pm.
You can order at the counter where a lot of cooked or steamed dishes are presented, or sit down first and order by menu. The service is speedy. The food is refreshing and yummy, a lot of dishes to go with congee. I like fried tofu, fishes, stried fried bittermelon with egg, traditional fried sausage, bamboo shoots, etc. 😋
Other review mentioned that it is run by a Thai-Chinese family, and I can see it is like a "Ama Agong" type of homie shop.
The shop is by the canal and there is a lovely balcony...
