We had booked to stay here for 5 nights but decided to pack up our bags and leave a day earliar. Here’s why. Upon arrival we recieved a not so friendly welcome but then had to give a deposit of 500 baht for the room key? A First for me, whatever that’s fine I’m easy going. Then 3 days later into our stay, our room was yet to receive any clean or any fresh towels? Okay first few days we got up quite late so that was understood if we missed our turn, but on the 3rd day? When going to the lobby to ask for fresh towels, it seemed like a incovinence to the staff to even talk to me, really bad customer service or should I say none existent, the staff really seemed defensive and annoyed dealing with me. Upon asking whether there is a house keeping service, I was met with ‘you have to leave your key with the reception and let us know that you want your room to be cleaned’ how was we supposed to know? This was not made aware to us when we checked in. The following day they had attempted to clean our room, i say attempted because the bed was not even made? apparently it was dirty? Well duh, it’s not been changed for 3 days for a start. This is the best bit, they attempted to charge us for new bedding and pillow cases because they were slightly dirty and apparently can’t be washed? This was beyond a joke, I obviously refused to pay. This was the final straw for us. So we packed up our bags, booked somewhere else for cheaper and where we would be treated like actual guests. Upon leaving the women seemed to find it amusing when I asked if we would receive any compensation due to cutting our night short which was down to the dreadful service and attitude of the staff. She laughed multiple times at my face. And I walked out after demanding the deposit back for the key. Never one for writing a bad review unless it’s deserved and trust me do not stop at this hotel. Bad staff, unwelcoming and trying to suck as much money out of backpackers as possible. Worst hotel/hostel we have encountered in the whole of South Asia. Stay clear. Will I get my nights room rate I never used? Probably not! Less chance of getting ripped off with the tuk...
Read moreFirst time in my life I’m in Thailand. The taxi that took us from the airport to the hotel drops us at a corner of an alley, looks surprised that this is actually the address we wanted to go to and drives off. We look at google maps and see that the hotel is practically in the alley. I’m asking my wife if it’s possible and she says that everything is possible here. The alley smells like a chicken graveyard, but that’s the place. |About 50 metters in to the alley we see the hotel. Behind glass doors and windows, a clean enlightened place. The gitl at the reception opens the door and thecalley stays behind. Clean, smells nice and offers complementary coffee, water and orange juice alon bread, butter and jam. |Check in is at 14:00 and the hour is 10:00. We have to pay half a day price for the early check in. There’s an elevator for the luggage. The stairs are very high so carrying a sleeping 7 years old to the third floor is quite a challenge. The room is comfortable and very clean (2 adults + 2 children). We made a reservation for a roon with a balcony that is no where to be found. Went down for a smoke and the girl in the reception calls me and sats that she see that we made the reservation for the room with the balcony, but since it’s not available, she’ll return the balance (it was nice not needing to ask for it). |The location is grate (apart from the chicken graveyard), two blocks fron khao san street |All and all, a good experience. |Recommended for family with two children, just try to make sure they are awake when you get there, and try not to get there| Before 14:00 or it’ll cost you. |BTW, checkout is at 13:00...
Read moreHotel and room was clean. But, watch out for the TV shelf that juts out from the wall, almost over the end of the bed. So unsafe, and unnecessary, the TV could be attached straight onto the wall. Hotel is tucked away down an alley, so away from the main noisy street. Free snacks all day including coffee, juice, toast, fruit and cakes. Water cooler to top up your own bottle. However, this water is decanted from 1litre plastic bottles, so not environmentally friendly. Check in is from 2pm, or 500tbht if you check in early. We arrived about 9am, but then came back 1.40pm and were told to wait 20minutes! Seriously? There's a sign on the stairs stating "please walk quietly on the stairs". All this did was encourage people to stomp noisily up the stairs, more than they would have done. Stupid sign! We stayed just one night as a stopover. Might be a good place for people who enjoy Khao San Road nightlife, as it's just...
