Aob-Sook Bread and Pastry Cafe was the first place we visited for coffee and breakfast in Chiang Mai (last November) and it was a hit. We typically walked Chang Moi Road to cross over the canal into Old Town so just walked down from there a couple minutes. If you are coming from Tha Phae Gate, it is up from Tha Phae Road ( oddly enough their adress is listed as on Tha Phae Road, but it is on a side street running between Tha Phae Road and Chang Moi Road.
The staff is young and provide a warm greeting and great service, and then the fabulous food just made this one of our favorite spots. I even snuck away one morning and went alone for another quick avocado toast and cappuccino - prices for their coffees and pastries are comparable to other spots on this category (ie modern coffee shops we see back in Canada/UK/USA) and the avocado toast at 155 BHT is reasonable. The seating is comfortable and find the clientele relaxing and respectful. Wifi connectivity is A+ In the end it is all about the experience ,not comparing to prices "back home". You have come this far...so who...
Read moreI love avocado on sourdough toast and from what I from my travels in Chiang Mai, this is the best I’ve found. The sourdough is cut think, comes with a good amount of avocado, as well as nicely cooked poached eggs. All this for 135 THB.
The espresso based coffee is also good and an iced latte is only 65THB.
I’m eating the service 3/5 because I came the other day, especially getting a grab from nimman, and they didn’t tell me it would be 30+ minute wait for food. After 20mins of waiting I asked if they could just do the avocado on toast without the eggs because I had to go, they said they couldn’t but agreed to make it in 10mins. After 10mins my food still wasn’t ready so I had to leave. Was a bit disappointing as I travelled (and paid for 2 grabs) and all they had to do was tell me there would be a wait - or even better, just put some avocado on some toast (it’s not really that hard).
Regardless of the above, I really miss this kind of food from the cafes in Australia so if you love sourdough like I do you really need to...
Read moreIt's one of the top cafes/bakery/eateries you will find in Chiang Mai. Wonderful and friendly staff.
You can smell all the goodness as soon as you walk into the door.
I got a latte and strawberry raisin custard. I wanted that tumber lemon curd. I did get it after about 35 minutes. It's so good and not too sweet. Well balanced.
All breads and pastries are made in-house.
All-day brunch! Yes, it's true. The entire establishment is pleasing to the eye. You just want to stay. I did almost an hour.
Now, the sounds 👌 So if you're after that spot, that is cool and relevant to today's vibe. 😎 ✔️
They have lots of covered parking for your scooters and motorbikes.
Now I was there when they opened, and the bakers had not put everything out. The weather plays a roll-on baking. So, if you want to look at all the beautiful pastries behind that display. I would come about 30 minutes to 45 minutes...
