Kafe 1985 — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

Rude owner/manager (Chat). Rode past here at night and decided to pull in for something to eat. Chat glared at me and said he would check if they would still serve food (it was around 11pm). He reluctantly agreed and I ordered straight away.

The whole time I was there he had a bad attitude and he was obviously annoyed they still had to serve food even though there were other people drinking. He slammed the plates down on my table and said nothing.

On leaving I decided I wanted to complain to the manager and asked for his name which was 'Chat'. I asked how to spell it and he mocked me as did some other friends of his at a nearby table. I've passed this place more times than i can remember over the years, decided to pop in the other day for the Khao Soi, which was one of the best I've had. So I've kind of now adopted this place as starting off point when in the old town, the bar and restaurant are very clean, the staff extremely happy and friendly and the food has been very good. I fancied some beef in oyster sauce with vegatables and wasn't on the menu but they made it for me anyway. Good place and probably going to be frequenting here a bit more when in Chaing Mai. There's seating both inside and out and a good people watching spot being near Thapae Gate....

Great place for a drink, food and watch the world go by. Edit 23/1/22. Been visiting this place for 15 years. Returned today. Most disappointing to learn they no longer sell German beers or Belgian beers. Won't be going back unless they review this policy.
