L'Opéra — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

Cute little place, hidden from elephant panters. I go here for my breakfast regularly and sometimes to work. Tried most of their selection and I have not been disappointed.

Two reasons I had to take a star off are -AC is still not working inside (been told that there were some problems with it, but not been fixed for a long while now) -While the staff is nice, most of them except the kind lady at the front, have no understanding of English at all, not even the basics. They would do some amateur mistakes like when I go inside to order another food item, they would clear my table including the drink I haven't finished even though my things are still on the table.

Would definitely recommend the place as the food is fantastic but the staff should really be trained properly and maybe speak at least a bit of English as this place is frequented...

I ate here for both breakfast and lunch and enjoyed both meals. I had the continental breakfast, the burger, as well as the bacon and egg sandwich. The breakfast meats served are of high quality, including the ham. This is something that can be difficult to find in this part of the world. My burger was served with too much dressing for my taste, but this was easily remedied by scraping some off. The burger bun and patty were very good. The breads and pastries are a highlight here. I've had the whole wheat bread, cookies, and the apple crumb. All were excellent and I look forward to trying more. Nice calm atmosphere with outside dining. Friendly service and a nice chat with the owner. Highly recommend if you have a taste for western food. You may need to come early if you want something specific as some of the delicious breads and...

Very, very overrated. Wasn't impressed on my first visit 3 years ago but was shocked when given a "gift" of two baguettes recently from a friend. My friend queued up here at 7:30 am to purchase 8 baguettes for himself and gifts for friends . The bread was warm and appeared beautiful .My friend called me 10 hours later to warn me about the bread, it was so hard he lost a tooth. I thought he was joking. He wasn't... I had already prepared my baguettes with Parmalat ham and a good cheese, thinking my friend was still playing a joke. When I bit into my 'fresh bread ' it was like bighting on a piece of wood. Absolutely disgrace for any bakery and one of only 2 bad reviews I've left on google. I dont know id I've been extremely unlucky twice,but certainly won't get caught out...
