I have been to dozens of Afternoon Teas around the world and this is oficially my favourite one. The food was amazing (Especially the scones and savoury bites,) as well as being very aesthetically pleasing.
But what really stood out to me was the absolutely PERFECT service from the staff. Anytime we had even the tiniest problem (A dropped piece of cutlery, me pouring my tea back into the pot because I poured before it was done steeping, me wiping off my plate so I could get a better photo etc.) they noticed instantly and rushed over to solve it. But at the same time they never awkwardly hovered or interupted our meal. They explained the entire menu to us well, offered us the option to have our sparkling wine before, during, or after (And when we told them we'd prefer it after - they came over again just as we were ALMOST finished our food - without being summoned/reminded - to ask if now was the time (It was!) )
Extremely impressive.
The flavour combinations of the food was also impressive and interesting. My only SLIGHT criticism would be that the desserts were a bit too white chocolate forward (A LOT of white chocolate which admittedly isn't my fave) but even with that they were different enough from each other to allow for a variety.

However this can’t compensate for interminable delays or forgotten orders. The food was nice when it eventually arrived, albeit one dish (seared scallops) was cold. The drinks are similarly inconsistent: a very nice gimlet, great hazelnut ale, but a watery spitz.
The restaurant had three tables staff plus bar staff serving only three tables, but it can take up to ten minutes to attract anyone’s attention. We resorted to walking to the bar when we needed service.
The manager apologized profusely midway through the meal but strangely the service didn’t improve thereafter (more forgotten drinks, more interminable delays).
The restaurant did knock off the cold dish, added a free desert and 15% discount. However I’m not convinced things would be any better if we went again. Even after complaining the staff spent more attention on rearranging furniture or assembling pastry displays than attending tables.
As a ‘fine restaurant’ I think most people are looking for good food and smooth service, rather than freebies. A pity because the menu looks great. I understand brunch...
