This hip record store that doubles as a bar on the southside of Thong Lo. Freaking Out the Neighborhood is owned by Have You Heard records, Bangkok's leading independent concert promotion company and music agency.

I had wanted to come for a long time since my wife and I are music lovers and collect vinyls. The vibes and atmosphere were dope with the music jamming loud as it should be. The menu pointed out not to talk too loudly so people can still hear the music saying, "The artist spent a lot of energy creating, crafting and curating an album, we want to appreciate the whole thing as it was meant to be heard. Because the music is loud doesn't mean you have to be loud, appreciate the music." I dig this. Freaking Out the neighborhood makes it clear that they see themselves primarily as a record store rather than a bar. I went in a big group of nearly 10 people and everyone loved their food and drink choices. Food comes in large portions and are easy to share -I recommend ordering a few things to share with your group.

There were at least two other large groups there the same night so we took our party outside to hangout for a bit and loved the chill vibes in their backyard. Brought everyone back to summer nights cooking out in the backyard.

A few tips: If you go at night and want a seat you might want to call ahead. It seemed like everyone there the night we went had made a booking. Be sure to try the Sun Dried Beef & Jaew, the Teriyaki Chicken and also to check out their other record store, the Entertainment Project...

Such a beautiful hidden gem near Sukhumvit 36. If you are looking for a good vibes, a dark bar, light conversation & heavy listening place you must come here. The drinks were very good, I tried the Shut Up and Listen, the Blood Orange, and the Everything but the Gin (n/a) and I thought all were well made and delicious. The merch section is cool as well as the record racks. Some great finds in there that I enjoyed seeing. I stayed in the area 3 nights and found myself stopping here each night to vibe and listen. Some people weren’t very respectful of the bar’s ask of keeping conversations down as asked of them (it’s written in the menu) and the workers were professional and respectful in how they asked them to lower their voices if they got way too loud. Great place for solo hangs (plenty of convos sparked up by solo goers), dates & groups, just maybe keep the loud convos for outside. Love this place, thank you team for your...
