Kate’s Place stands out in this city with a plethora of food options as one that feels comfortable, yet exciting - it’s like going to that one friend who can cook really well and you’re there to absorb knowledge on top of tasting good food! We started the dinner with the Miang squid salad as the server described how Miang leaves are typically used in Thai cuisine, it was followed by a stuffed chicken wing with Thai herbs which I love it so much! One of my favourite of the night has got the modern expression of what a khao soi (curry noodles) is, the crispy bits, together with the sauce and the noodles just gives it such a nice texture and flavour to the dish. The mains were equally good! I love the curry beef! Did I mention that the wines are pretty decent too, I got a glass from Khao Yai (I didn’t even know Thailand produces red wine) - but I supposed that’s what such dining aims to impart you, learning more about the culture through food. Highly recommend overall! Though I would say would appreciate if the food came at a faster interval, besides that nothing to fault, all was great! And look forward to be back! Thank you for the wonderful experience 🙏

Chanced upon this little gem whilst searching for a nice restaurant to celebrate my wedding anniversary. Cosy and unpretentious, the focus is all on the fantastic food! The 3 starters (or snacks as stated on the menu) were 3 separate dishes, each one filled with complex tastes that belie the simple presentation. The duck breast starter was succulent and was served on a bed of wonderful homemade laab achar. By the time the mains were served (communal style served withThai brown rice), we were stuffed but the dishes were all so wonderful that we finished everything! Especially commendable was the herbed fermented soya bean with minced pork, spooned onto the organic raw vegetables served. Yum! The sweet ending was a deconstructed Kate-version of the classic mango sticky rice - to die for!! If you thought you “knew” Thai food, you HAVE to experience Kate’s heartfelt renditions of classic Thai dishes, and her mastery of balancing the herbs and spices was perfect. Unlike other chef’s tables we have experienced, the food servings were so generous that I think hub and I over ate. Lol! Go and try Kate’s place while you’re still able to get a reservation!

Elevated Thai comfort food. Chef Kate's Mee Sua Poo was an absolute taste & textural delight. With every bite you get the crunch of fried Khao soi noodles, the crispness of fried onions & fresh spring onions, slurpy umani packed noodles & sweet crab 😋. The dessert was a play on Mango Sticky Rice turned on its head. I had a pretty decent number of Panna Cotta served in a glass sorta desserts, this is the best one I've ever had. The ultra silky pandan coconut Panna Cotta at the bottom was the perfect canvas to enjoy the rosary, toasty rice crispy and the sweet succulent mangoes. the home grown herbs & flowers gave little pops of freshness. Uber tasty dishes, warm hospitality at an amazing value.
