Having been to Starbucks Reserve in Tokyo, and with high standards of Thai hospitality, and this location being in ICONSIAM, we had high expectations of this Starbucks Reserve. Unfortunately our experience was ruined by the most unfriendliest service we ever received in Thailand. We don’t really go to Starbucks expecting amazing service but at Reserve we do.
We first walked around the store enjoying the beautiful view of the city and the river this location offers and decided to sit at the bar since one of the perks of Reserve is that they offer alcohol. I called out to the bartender in Thai saying “excuse me” but the bartender didn’t seem to acknowledge us even though I said it out loud. Hoping that he just didn’t hear me, I followed him around the bar asking for the menu. He had almost an angry expression but I decided to just ignore it. We got the menu and was ready to order so I called out to him saying can I order and he seemed to hear me this time but had his back turned on me and just gave a nod. He then walks to the register without saying anything or making an eye contact. Confused, I was just sitting there waiting because I thought he was getting something at the register, but after standing at the register for what felt like 5 minutes, he turns to me and points me to come to the register. I walk up to the register and tell him that he should’ve explained to me that I need to come to the register to order. Then he gives me another angry look and asks me what I want. By this time it’s clear to me that he is giving me an attitude and I take a note of his name “oude.” I tell him I want the Chao Phraya Sour which seemed to be one of their signature cocktails and he points me at coffee card asking me which coffee I want. Confused again, I tell him again trying my best this time to say the name of the cocktail in Thai pronunciation (I lived in Thailand for several years) but he gives me attitude saying angrily that they don’t have such a thing. He takes the menu out pointing at a coffee cocktail and I’m like no I wanted the chao phraya sour which is a type of whisky sour, then he gives me attitude saying that it has no coffee in it. I’m going, when did I ask for coffee, i’ve been asking for the cocktail. My family is watching this whole transaction and they are so confused by his attitude that they lost interest in ordering and decided to not order anything. At this point it was clear to me that he was for no reason giving me an attitude and he seemed like he didn’t want to be there and just making customers feel uncomfortable. I asked for the manager after ordering and the other staff and the manager seemed more professional with better attitude so this one star that I can’t take away they deserve. I told the manager what happened and that maybe this guy doesn’t want to work here then she went and spoke to him and he came to me with my order and apologized with a fake smile. I told him in Thai, you can go home if you want and stopped any interaction with him. We originally planned to stay there for a while, have some dessert and a couple drinks, but the experience left such a sour taste in our mouth that I just quickly finished my cocktail and wanted to get out of there. The cocktail the same guy made me seemed to have alot less portion than the photo but at this point I couldn’t care less. I just figured I wasted my money and won’t ever come back. It’s too bad because the cocktail actually seemed tasty (i couldn’t focus), and the location is so nice but because of one staff who hates his job, it ruined the whole experience. If you’re coming here, just order coffee,...
Read morerecently visited Starbucks Reserve at Iconsiam in Thailand and had an amazing experience overall. I ordered the cold brew malt and match cold brew malt, and both drinks were absolutely delicious.
The cold brew malt was smooth and creamy, with a rich malt flavor and a hint of sweetness. It was the perfect pick-me-up on a hot day. Starbucks Reserve cold brew malt drink
The match cold brew malt was even more unique and delicious. It had a smooth and creamy texture, with a rich matcha flavor and a hint of sweetness. The matcha flavor was not overpowering, and it was perfectly balanced with the malt flavor.
The service at Starbucks Reserve at Iconsiam was also excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they made sure that I had everything I needed. The atmosphere was also relaxed and inviting.

Read moreStarbucks Reserve Chao Phraya Riverfront at ICONSIAM is a visually stunning location, outshining even its Seattle counterpart in terms of ambiance. While I’m not a fan of coffee or Starbucks, I can appreciate the appeal for those who love the brand or want a photogenic café experience. It’s more about the setting than the substance.
Full Review:
Starbucks Reserve Chao Phraya Riverfront at ICONSIAM is, without a doubt, a striking venue. With its sleek design, expansive river views, and spacious seating, it easily surpasses many Starbucks locations worldwide in sheer aesthetic appeal. For those seeking a spot to sip coffee while taking in an impressive setting, this place delivers.
However, my experience with Starbucks has always been more about observation than participation—I’ve never been a coffee person, nor do I find their menu particularly exciting. But for loyal Starbucks fans, this location offers the full Reserve experience, with specialty brews, exclusive blends, and a more premium feel than a standard store. It’s undeniably Instagram-worthy, and for many, that’s enough of a draw.
Still, beyond the aesthetics, it’s ultimately just Starbucks. The drinks are what you’d expect—if you love them, you’ll be happy. If you don’t, this won’t change your mind. Service is efficient but nothing extraordinary, and prices reflect the premium branding. If you’re coming for the coffee, you already know what you’re getting. If you’re coming for the setting, it’s worth a...
