Restaurant Ranee Seafood — Restaurant in Ko Lipe

My wife and I came here four times, maybe more we can’t remember (too many cheap Singhas)… We obviously LOVED it. The first couple of times we ordered the tempura prawns (4.6/5), pad Thai with prawns (5/5) and the papaya salad (4/5) but on our later visits when we were getting embarrassed by ordering the same thing, we branched out and on one night got the deep fried fish with green sauce (4.9/5) and then on another occasion the signature salt crusted fish (4.7/5).

The banana fritters were DELICIOUS but a lot. Recommend saving room for them. On one night we were sitting next to a German couple and eavesdropping on their conversation. Apparently they’d also been here multiple times and rated the mango with sticky rice dessert. Alas we never tried it.

My wife (who is real, see photo) loved the lemon juice. A bitter little drink for a bitter little lady.

Ranee herself works the front of the restaurant and is an absolute delight. We even ran out of cash one night (too many cheap Singhas) and she let us pay her back. A gem of a woman running a gem of a restaurant. Highlight of Koh Lipe....

We fancied some BBQ fish, so came here after choosing one of the local fish on display at the front. We had the grilled fish with vermicelli noodles and local vegetables and Ranee told us to eat it by placing some noodles and fish in the cabbage leaves and eating like a mini wrap. The fish was delicious, extremely fresh and caught the same day! The homemade chilli sauce the fish is served with is incredible! We asked for more.

We also ordered a papaya salad which was tasty, but could have been spicier (we asked for medium spice and it wasn’t spicy at all) and the watermelon shakes were great. We had room for mango sticky rice for dessert and that was 10/10, it’s even served with extra coconut milk on the side although the rice was sweet enough, so we didn’t need it. Would definitely recommend this place - very reasonable… our total bill was 840 thb for a whole fish main, papaya salad, 3 drinks...

I would give this place a 10! BEST seafood and fish in Koh Lipe! Best restaurant and staff in Koh Lipe! Ate here in two consecutive evenings! Clean place, fresh fish and seafood daily, very fair prices, lovely staff, amazing owner! That'a how you make a great business! They really know how to cook fish! The owner is very friendly, she talks with the clients, explains, answers questions, always smiling! We had Thai sour soup (very good!!!!!), tempura prawns, the signature grilled fish, we chose a red snapper which was amazing!!!!, Tom Yum fish (it had too much tomato in it), deep fried red snapper made with a citrusy sauce, amazing!!!!!! This last onr we had two portions of it! Thai style corn salad which was spicy and vety tasty!!
