Bambus Hostel review Pros: -Very affordable. -Provides free lock for locker. -Nice and clean washrooms. Way too many mosquitoes though as they are semi-open. -Dorm room setup is good. Provides adequate privacy via curtains when required. -Free water. -Decent activity zone with pool table and darts. -Spacious beds. Good for tall people as most hostels have cramped beds.
Cons: -Below average wifi. -Weak AC. -Many mosquitoes.
Pro/con depending on who you are: -There are no organised events like some other hostels offer. So the opportunities to socialise with other travellers are somewhat limited. I stayed for 2 nights in 8-bed dormitory, and there were no more than 3 occupied beds at any point of time. -There is nothing wrong with the location but if you are looking to stay as close to the action as possible, this place will feel far as Bangla Road is about 15 mins walk. But the advantage to this is that there are no outside noises at this hotel. -There are 3 cute cats in the hostel. They do enter the room when they see the door open.
Verdict: There is no other hostel in Phuket which can provide these kind of amenities for this price. But if you are a solo traveler, you may want to explore other options like Lubd if budget isn’t a major concern, as you might feel a bit lonely at...
Read moreTo start with the food, we had the oysters (obviously it's Oyster Restaurant) They were fresh and came with a variety of delicious toppings and ingredients! Some of the best Oysters I've had. We also had a traditional Thai dish, a kind of soup with ginger and pork in it, there was some much flavor to it! We wrapped the course up with a Tilapia BBQ'd in Salt, no seasoning or condiments needed the salt kept the fish perfectly tender and flavorful! All this food and drinks for a very reasonable price!
And the service... The staff were all very friendly and nice, made you feel at home there. We met the Owner Martin, he was a very hospital guy, and they don't try and drag you in the door like a lot of the places here.
Instead my wife and I were just walking by and it was a chill setup, clean, nicely put together, good music... and that's what brought us in the door, not some people grabbing us by the arms and waving menu's in our faces.
It was a great experience and I highly recommend eating here if you're hanging...
Read moreBambus is the first local restaurant I tried in Thailand. It has such a nice, laid back atmosphere, the staff are very friendly, and the food was unreal. I got the pineapple fried rice which is served inside I pineapple. It also has some nuts (cashews maybe) and a choice of meat. I got it with chicken. I also got the Panang which was exactly what I was hoping I would get in Thailand. The flavour was so robust, and when only the curry on my rice….🤯. The owner Martin recommended that I try the rice with the crispy pork next time, so I came back the next day and ordered it. It was incredible. Some of the most enjoyable food I’ve ever had. I will definitely come back when I’m back in Patong. Do yourself a favour and try this place. You’ll be...
