I wasnāt going to write a review but based on check-out the hotel forced my hand. The hotel lacks any sort of personality or feel. Even checking in the staff are lacking that Thai charm, but rather seem like they would prefer to be drinking a Chang elsewhere. On check-in, I was told to pay 2000 Baht deposit. This is not listed anywhere on my Trip.com booking. I donāt mind paying a deposit but this is something that should be communicated before check-in. Letās start with the room. Spacious but bland. Grey decor and some random blue picture on the wall. The shower is ridiculous in that the shower head doesnāt extend out and basically flows virtually on top of the wall so you have to stand right next to the wall to shower. There is no space to put toiletries - the hotel shampoo etc. sits next to the basin. If there are 2 of you and one is on the loo, be careful not to whack them on the legs when opening the bathroom door. The swimming pool lounger area is a joke, unless lying in the shade is something you enjoy. If you think you can lie by the pool in the sun, forget it - there is one tiny sliver of area with 4 loungers in the open, but as itās between 2 buildings, there is zero direct sunlight. The rest of the seating area and loungers is all under the permanent shade of the first floor. The hotel swimming towels are worn and frayed. I signed for a towel but no-one was in sight when I wanted to prove that I returned it. Breakfast is pretty much the same every day. I donāt even know why they bother putting food in the silver heating trays as the food in there is cold EVERY day. Cold eggs, sausages, etc. The fruit is exactly the same every day - no attempt at variety. The outside seating of the restaurant is limited and so you probably have to sit in the āconferenceā room to eat where you can enjoy the view of white walls while eating. The biggest insult came on the day I checked out. When I checked into the room, I checked the closet and there was a pair of clearly worn flip flops. I was so grossed out by the fact that these had clearly been worn by other people and a little disappointed that the hotel couldnāt spend 50 baht on the cheap linen disposable ones. Needless to say, I never wore the flops. However, on checkout, I was told that the flip flops were missing and I had to pay 150 baht for them. As you can imagine, I lost it. I mean why on earth would I steal some disgusting flip flops that someone else wore?? I went back to the room and looked for myself and indeed the flops were missing. I told the unfriendly staff at the desk that I had had no guests and that the flip flops were there when I checked in. The only other person who had been in my room was the maid, ergo she could have been the only person to take them. I have no idea why she would do that, but maybe itās because I never tipped the bellboy who helped bring my bag to my room? Itās the only reason I can think of. The hotel didnāt make me pay in the end as I kicked up a gigantic fuss, but the whole thing left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth. I had ordered airport transfer the day before to take me to the airport - had to wait 20 minutes for that also as it wasnāt on time and when it arrived, it was just a regular taxi not actually transport of the hotel. And then I had to pray for dear life that I didnāt arrive at the airport in a gurney as the taxi driver fancied himself a formula one driver who confused the narrow, motorbike-ridden roads of Phuket as the racetrack. All in all, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I already was not impressed with the food and general atmosphere, but being accused of stealing some disgusting flops was the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked our stay with Andakira Hotel & Spa for our Phuket trip from 10 - 14 Dec. Because we are a group of 5, we booked the family suite, which came with a living room with 2 rooms with ensuites. On the day of arrival, we were given the family suite with an extra bed in one of the bedrooms which suited us perfectly. The room was spacious but that was about it. The bathroom, however, had exposed and loose drainage vent covers. It was on 12 Dec when we came back to our room to find one dead cockroach. We then contacted the front reception to get it removed. 2 staff came in, one to sweep it away while the other brought in a plastic bag filled with white stuff and then went into the bathroom to, I presume it was to scatter it into the drainage vents. Then, after some settling down, while my son was resting on the extra bed provided, a cockroach fell from out of nowhere, presumably from the air-con vents. It then started flying and we resorted to slapping it down with our flip-flops. We then called reception again to catch it. This time they came in with insecticide and the broom to sweep it away. They sprayed the insecticide around the room whilst we were still in the room. We were inhaling the poisons!Again not too long after that, we saw another crawling underneath the desk next to the second bed. Again, we called for help. Then again, the staff came up to spray yet again more insecticide! The fumes were getting too much to bear and my kids started complaining.I then decide to lodge a complaint with the front desk directly and one staff offered us a change of rooms. This time, it was 2 rooms with 1 king sized bed each. We had no choice but to accept it even though it was past midnight. After moving in, we realised that there was no extra bed as there were 3 of us in one room and 2 in the other. We requested for the extra bed to be put in. Then we retreated to rest. In the middle of the night at around 4am, the back of my left leg started to itch and there were bumps. I applied some creams to ease the itch. The next morning, I went down and told the staff about it. They even took a photo of it as proof of those bites.I then demanded for a refund or some form of compensation. On the day we were leaving the hotel on 14 Dec, I asked for the Front Office Manager by the name of Khun. He came out defensive and rude. He said that by offering the new rooms , it has been settled. I said there was obviously a cockroach infestation and he then admitted that they had done some pest control and the cockroaches were all scrambling out of the vents. I said that is not my problem. As a customer. would you want to stay in a room full of cockroaches? Then I told him about the bed bugs and he said they checked but couldn't find any. I said the bites on my legs are living proof of it and he said it could be due to my allergies! He was rude and offered no customer service! He then told me to direct my complaints to you directly as we had booked our room through your platform. We now seek a refund and/or compensation of our stay in that hotel for what we had to endure....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stayed here for 3 nights from 16 dec 22 to 18 dec 2022. I booked it via Makemytrip and the room booked was from 'Superior' Category. The room looked good although the balcony view was okay. But when I checked the bathroom, the faucet spray was jammed and also the water pressure in it was so low that it was as good as no spray being there. When I called reception, they sent the housekeeping staff to check. We also had water being jammed in washbasin but that's because we didn't flip the closing. So we told the houskeeping girl and she gave us rude and arrogant look while showing us how to use that. For the faucet spray, they sent their plumber who replaced the faucet but the pressure was still low. I complained to the manager to give us another room if that can't be fixed. He told us that this room was family suite which was far better than superior category rooms and that there are no more family suites left and other guests would happily take it in place of superior rooms. When I asked him to show superior room for us to decide, he told us superior rooms are also fully booked today which he was lying because I checked on MMT website and superior rooms were available and he said he can only show us them next day. On reiterating the problem with low pressure, he made gestures showing how we use faucet spray in front of everyone which looked vulgar to me and seemed like he was making fun of us. The manager was stubborn and didn't want to do anything to solve our problem. There were 2 more issues with bathroom. The shower was tilted very close the front wall and couldn't be moved or rotated. There was no tap or hand shower to use for washing clothes which was there in the other hotel I stayed at. Also mysteriously, our key card got locked every time we went out and when asked at the reception, the lady said the card are old so it malfunctions and then she erased and reprogrammed and gave it back. The view outside the hotel was also not great and the nearby hotels also looked cheap quality. Another thing which I didn't find good was they would ask for credit card number while checking in but I think that's the case with most hotels there. But the good thing is if you leave the room without any damage, they won't charge to it. The breakfast had several items just like any other big hotel. For non vegetarians, there we're several items. For vegetarians, there are limited options which is expected. It was great to find Poha in the breakfast. They also cooked Rajma but it was very sweet in unlikable. One of the good points of the hotel was it's proximity to Patong beach and Bangla road, both of these are within 1.5 to 2 km distance. Also, there are couple of very good pure veg indian restaurants nearby. I ate at Shri ganesha resturant and the food was great there. Overall I think the hotel and staff needs improvement for it to be...
