Daily Seafood — Restaurant in Patong

DON’T GO TO THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU DON’T WANT TO GET SICK!!

THE STAFF ALREADY KNEW AND TOLD US THAT THE OYSTERS ARE OLD AND YET, THEY STILL OVERCHARGE US!

We ordered 6 fresh oysters. When I tasted one, I immediately knew it wasn’t fresh. I asked my boyfriend to try it as well to confirm, and it tasted really bad. We told the staff that the oysters tasted weird and no longer fresh. They offered to give us a new one, but we decided to cancel the order because we didn’t want to risk food poisoning or stomach issues. Despite this, they insisted on giving us a new oyster, saying that if it still wasn’t fresh, we could return it and not pay for it.

When the new oysters arrived, the waitress told us that the first batch was old and that what they were now giving us was freshly opened. For the new batch of oyster, they only provided 4. When we asked for the bill, they charged us for 6 oysters. We explained that they only gave us 4, but the staff insisted that we had already eaten 2 oysters initially and that they couldn’t remove them from the bill.

We wouldn’t have known whether the oysters were okay if we hadn’t tried them first. The staff kept forcing us to pay for the two oysters we found to be old and unappetizing, claiming they would be charged to the staff.

I asked to speak with the manager, but they told me they didn’t have one. What kind of restaurant is this, located in a very popular and beautiful beach in Patong, that has no manager on duty? I, myself also work as a server/waitress and I don’t get why they would still charge us for not fresh oysters and tell us that it will be charged on the staff. We had such a wonderful dining experience at Daily Seafood! Thida took such great care of us from the moment we arrived — she was warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. Her recommendations were absolutely spot on!

The first time we visited, everything was so good that we had to come back again — this time to try the grilled lobster, which was cooked to perfection. We also tried the garlic prawns on Thida’s recommendation, and they were bursting with flavor — definitely one of the best we’ve had!

Please do not be afraid of the reviews, I believe they are entirely unjustified. I think people are ridiculous in what they expect, this is Patong and not bloody Marsan par Hélène Darroze!

Daily Seafood is excellent value for money, and was the first restaurant on Thawi Wong Road that didn’t feel overpriced (granted we are in Patong but still), and too touristy.

At the time of this review, a kilogram of shrimp is 1000 Thai Baht, and (in my opinion) worth every satang!

The shrimps were cooked perfectly and there was some sauce for dipping that I couldn’t get enough of as well. I can highly recommend Daily Seafood for a fairly priced and tasty dinner.
