TL;DR: with deafening music, they’ll be overly friendly to you before asking you to buy shots for them and the shots bought for them are more expensive than the ones you get for yourself despite their being the same kind of drink. DONT BE NAIVE LIKE ME. THEYRE NOT THERE TO BE YOUR FRIENDS. I LEARNED IT THE HARD WAY SO YOU DONT HAVE TO!!!
Went there 2 times. First, I went with a friend and a staff member was so friendly and chatty to me as I’m Thai. The second time I went there, the same staff member got friendly again. This time around, I went in with 2 friends. The staff and I had a chat after she’d put our drinks on the table. After I’d finished my first drink, she then came to the table with other 2 staff members asking for shots. As a naive person with little experience of going to pubs and bars, combined with deafening live band that was playing, I said yes thinking it was just me buying them shots. The same staff member came back with my second drink and a shot. She asked me to taste it to see if I would like it. So I had a tiny sip and was like “oh that’s not bad” then she grabbed that shot and downed it. That baffled me. Not so long after that, she came back with 3 more shots for me and my friends. I just said I didn’t mind the drink; I didn’t say yes to ordering 3 more shots. So of course when the bill came, there were 3 shots that I naively bought for them and each drink was overcharged by 50 baht. When I asked them to explain the 50 baht extra, they couldn’t explain why. Avoid it at all cost. Never think they’re being friendly out of decency, they just try to gauge if you’re naive enough to be tricked into buying shots for them to...
Read moreI would like to share how I got scammed at this Dublin Irish pub on Bangla road. I asked the lady serving me which among the two Thai whiskeys mentioned on their Bar menu is better. She said she personally liked X brand, I said okay bring that for me. For my next round, I wanted to try the other brand, so I told the same lady to get me a drink of brand Y. She said okay, and asked me to buy a drink of brand X for her. This is news to me, as to why would the lady waiting my table ask me to buy her a drink? She got me and my wife a drink each as ordered and kept her drink on my table on the edge. She would work around the other tables and occasionally come visit my table, have a sip of her drink and come back later from time to time. When I was done I asked for the bill. To my surprise Brand X and Brand Y were priced at 110 and 120 THB each. And the drink for the lady was charged to me at 250 THB. On the menu it says "Staff drink @ 250". Like what the hell? I never offered to buy the lady a drink. I was with my wife. More importantly, if she has the same drink, why would it be charged at 250 for a drink that I am charged at less than half the price. Thats a...
Read moreWe visited in the late afternoon one day, looking for a decent place for lunch. In hindsight, we should have checked the reviews first. Guys, just stay away from this place. My boyfriend and I ended up paying S$550 between the two of us, and we didn't think to check the bill at the time. They didn't give us a receipt, and it wasn't until we got back to the hotel that I realized how much we'd been charged.
The staff kept pushing for drinks, even after we said no. One staff member even told my boyfriend, "It's alright, I'll ask again later." We should have left right then, but we were meeting a friend there and thought, having been to Irish bars in places like Vietnam, Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur, Sabah), Singapore, Brisbane, the UK, etc., that this would be a nice experience too. We were wrong.
We’ll never return, and it seems like the management/owner doesn't care because this is still happening as of September 2025. If you're looking for a good Irish bar, go to Molly Tavern or even LAIMAT. Much better atmosphere, great bands, and the staff is much more friendly. We've been going to those spots these past few days, and they’ve...
