Visited today and the food was alright. You get better taste at other Indian restaurants in Phuket. It was tasting Indian, but nothing wow about it. We ordered dal tadka, kadai vegetable, lachha paratha and butrer roti. Dal tadka was just okay but the kadai vegetable had more of raw taste to it. But lachha paratha and butter roti were very good, hot and crispy on the outside and soft inside. But service has a huge scope for improvement. Only one person was serving the entire dining area, which had almost 4 tables full at a time. Most of the tables had a group of 4 or more. Generally, indian restaurants give you complimentary onions, green chillies and pickles etc. Here we had to ask for the onion salad and got it when we were already half way through our dinner. Then again salt and pepper which should already be at each table, had to be asked for. Same with water, which is usually supplied or asked about by the server right when the guest seats at the table. We had to ask for water and got it with quite a bit of delay. The place looks a bit tight, with tables very close to each other, so much so that you hear the other people very loud and clear. I will surely say it is not a must-visit...

Read moreI was searching for Kopitiam on Thalang Street. Unfortunately it has closed down it seems. I was looking for vegetarian food and exactly opposite the now shuttered Kopitiam, on the second floor of a fine, heritage building is the Hello India, a neat and moderately colourful restaurant with beautiful Indian glass chandeliers, a deep maroon floor and yellow-adobe-goldish walls and ceiling. The menu is all-Indian. Since it was lunchtime, I ordered aloo-mutter and a naan. The order arrived pretty quickly. The gravy was thick and suffused with genuine Indian spices. The naan wasn't as fluffy as in India, but the food was delicious and authentically Indian. Loved it. The ambience is enhanced by the choice of Indian music, with a strong folksy music and singing. The white tables and soft grey cushioned chairs are out of...
