Whenever you go to Chinatown/ Yaowarat Bangkok, you will be enthralled by the rows and rows of Chinese speciality shops - gold, herbs and of course. Bird’s nest. 🤭
We had the wild birdnest - which is more yellow in color, compared to the farmed ones which are white. It is served with soft egg, gingko and wild honey. I would suggest to eat it plain - so it’s original flavors and textures can be appreciated. Before adding the other condiments. Once added, the whole dish becomes another dessert, and you do lose a little bird nest quality to it. But still, extremely delicious.
Then we had some shark’s fin. We ordered one of the larger pieces for 2500baht. And it was as big as the claypot itself. It was cooked to perfection in the flavorsome soup. The shark’s fin isnt like “tang hoon” in normal Chinese restaurants, but instead, served whole, very tender and slightly springy.
Then we ended with a bowl of iced Gingko nuts - a little too sweet. So we asked for extra ice to dilute it. The nuts were fresh, tender and super flavorful.
Overall, a very enjoyable experience. It is very indulgent, very extra.
(While i understand the plights of shark finning, and this is my first shark’s fin in over 15 years, i believe there should be a balance between our cause and action. )
✨ Overall Score: 10/10 ✨

With a variety of bird nest offerings priced from 300 to 1500 baht, there's something for every budget. I orederd a 300 baht option, served chilled in a coconut and mixed with coconut water, provides a refreshing yet subtle taste experience. While it may not have the 'wow' factor for me, it remains a delightful and affordable introduction to this luxurious delicacy. Plus, the complimentary beverage is a pleasant touch that adds to the overall enjoyment.
For those seeking a richer flavor, it might be worth splurging on the pricier options. Perhaps the denser bird nest taste will elevate the experience to new heights.
Whether you're a bird nest aficionado or a curious first-timer, Burapha Rang Nok is a charming spot to savor this exquisite treat amidst the nostalgic ambiance of one of Bangkok's most iconic neighborhoods. Next time you're in the area, why not give it a try? Maybe the more expensive bird nest will indeed offer that sought-after...
Read moreWe came to this bird nest shop for 3 days in a row. It is near Wat Mangkon MRT Exit 1, so it’s quite easy to find. They offer three different prices of bird nest, 200, 300 and 500 Baht. On the first day, I ordered takeaway for the 200 Baht. They prepared and poured the bird nest nicely into a container and it also came with ginkgo nuts and honey. I feel for people who just want to try the taste of bird nest, the 200 Baht one is good enough. The next day I dined in and ordered 300 Baht. The bird nest flakes are larger than the 200 Baht version and taste better. I went back again on the third day to buy their canned bird nest. They are selling one box of six at 600 Baht. I will definitely go back to this shop when I am in Yaowarat. I kind of regret buying just one box of canned bird nest, probably should have bought more. This is a decent place for people who are interested...
