The Worst Experience Ever in Thailand
We walked into the bar as the only customers!! Their menu advertised a happy hour deal: "buy 1, get 1 free." We asked how it worked and was ONLY told we needed to order the same drink. So, I ordered one drink , expecting the “free” drink to go to my girlfriend.
We got served our 2 drinks and Twenty minutes later, before we had even finished our drinks, a guy with glasses (not the waiter) brought us another two drinks and said we had ordered two, so we got another two free. We were shocked! I explained that I had only ordered one drink and that the waiter hadn't mentioned that we each needed to buy a drink.
The man with glasses suddenly claimed he was the manager and started yelling- I say again YELLING- that "buy 1, get 1 free" meant we both needed to buy one drink; otherwise, one of us couldn't sit there. He insisted that's how it works in Thailand.
I found this hilarious because I have traveled to Thailand many times and never heard of such a rule. Fine, if you told us before we ordered, so we could have made th choice ourself . But if you come aggressively(!!!) and ask us to pay for something we didn’t order, don't expect the guest to be nice.
We said we wouldn't pay for the extra drink we didn't order. The "manager" then said we'd have to pay full price for our drink with no happy hour discount. We were like, what is going on? Are you that desperate to scam 200 baht from us?
I refused to pay because the manager was so rude and keep on SCREAMING at us and provided such horrible service. I have never been to a restaurant or bar before where someone had screamed at me. Suddenly, he screamed, "This is my country." I was like, did you smoke too much before coming to work? I think your country would be ashamed to have you as a citizen when you treat people like this!!
We argued about how his staff didn't mention the rule initially. Of course, he didn’t want to admit it was their mistake and threatened to call the 👮
What’s scary now is how they started recording us and taking photos, saying, “You told us you want to fight us and hit us,” as if they were trying to get a false confession on tape. I really wish I had recorded the “manager” screaming at me instead.
In the end, he didn’t dare call the police and just stared at us. We didn’t want to waste more time arguing, so we paid for the drinks and left.
I hight recommend anyone that read my whole review to go somewhere els to spend their money on a business that treat people nice . As you can see - my review it’s not the only bad one so it's not just me who had a bad...
Read moreWe (6 people) were sent away because 1 of us did not want to drink anything, even though we ordered about 15 cocktails the night before. You are not allowed to sit at the bar without ordering because they "have to sell a lot in low season" and rather sent us away instead of allowing 1 to not drink and let the other 5 order. Also we were the only customers at the bar. Due to the Bar which is on top of the printing house hostel, you are not allowed to bring any food or drinks (with alcohol!) into the hostel. The first evening was quite nice but this is does not make sense and does not hit the Thai spirit I learnt loving in my holidays. Also be careful, everything costs 17% more then shown on the menu, 10% are service fee and 7% tax. It's stated on the menu but we did not see it directly. And I think 17% extra is quite expensive, I did not see something like this in my past 3 weeks...
Read moreWe had made a reservation for new years eve on their website and when we came to the bar the male waiter threw us out of there saying we did not pay deposit. THERE WAS NOTHING SAID ABOUT A DEPOSIT ON THE WEBSITE. I also got an email saying the reservation was confirmed. The male waiter was completely unproffesional and rude. He did not even let us speak. So sad people like that work in social...
