This place serves Hong Kong style roasted duck and pork. The quality of the meats is good, especially for the price. I had mapo tofu and roasted pork/crispy pork belly for dine-in and took a medium-sized platter of duck and pork home.
The mapo tofu is fragrance and has a good amount of oil. The flavor is good, and it is not intensely spicy. I personally think mapo tofu should be very spicy, rich, and numbing, so while it is tasty, it isn't for me.
The roasted pork was very rich and flavorful. It got a nice amount of fat, and the salty and sweet flavors complement the pork well. It was really enjoyable to have the juice gushed out as I was chewing on it.
The crispy pork belly got a nice, light, and crispy crust. It reminds me of eating a thin piece of potato chip. The pork was well roasted and was juicy.
I also got to try the shrimp and pork dumplings, which were very impressive. The shrimp dumplings contain actual chunks of shrimp, which was a pleasant surprise to bite into. It was mildy sweet and slightly chewy, very fun to eat. The pork dumplings were huge and meaty. It was a bit difficult to try and eat a whole piece in one bite. The ground pork was juicy and seasoned well.
Another thing of note, their chili oil has crispy fried pork skin added to it. Giving it a nice, crunchy texture that goes well with the dumplings.
A quaint little spot that I will likely stop by again for a quick meal when I'm...
Read moreI Accidentally discovered Ma’s Roast in front of the post office a couple months ago and my god, it was one of the meals that stood out in my stay in Bangkok.
I HIGHLY recommend you try the dish i posted here. I forgot the name but they should know right away. The pork was perfectly marinated and absolutely juicy, and the egg? the egg was INSANITY. if you experienced marinated eggs before, you have never experienced this anywhere yet.
It has a jammy texture that’s extremely thick and DENSE with flavor. The texture is unlike anything i’ve ever experienced anywhere in the world and strangely enough, i couldnt find what its called anywhere in the internet.
Now aside from the food, the owners were one of the sweetest people we dined in with. They just launched their shop almost a year from now and they work very hard and care so much for their customers.
They really take their craft seriously and keep asking if we have suggestions on how they can improve their service. This to me shows a character who would do anything for their dream.
I hope you can come by and get to experience what they have created because i can guarantee a mindblowing experience with them.
And to the owners, if you’re reading this. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and experience we had in your shop, i still dream about this mysterious egg amongst all the food i tried around...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful experience at this local gem! Thee and her husband Ma have created something truly special - a warm, welcoming, no frills spot where you feel at home from the moment you walk in. Their passion for food is evident in every dish.
I had the roast duck, and it was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, not overly greasy, and served boneless like tender fillets - every bite was incredibly satisfying. The homemade chili sauce topped with crispy prawns wasn’t spicy but added just the right depth of flavor to elevate every dish. The shrimp wontons were super satisfying - fully packed, handmade, and bursting with flavor.
Thee's hospitality makes the experience even better - her warmth and kindness make you feel like a regular even on your first visit. Chef Ma's love for cooking clearly shows. If you’re looking for incredible Thai food, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait...
