I recently stayed at the Amari in Bangkok and had an amazing meal at Prego, which lies on the ground floor of the hotel. I enjoyed one of the most enjoyable Italian meals I've had in a long time since coming to Bangkok, and I could truly sense the authenticity in each dish that we ordered!
With both inside seating and a little outside space, the atmosphere had a cozy and laid-back vibe. The interior design combined elements of modern and classic Italian decor in a harmonious way. Everything felt much more welcoming since the staff had also given me a warm and polite greeting.
Prosciutto Crudo e Rucola and Prego Insalata di Cesare were the first items I ordered. The fresh greens and salmon were a great complement to the crunchy, salty prosciutto and was a refreshing appetizer that had tons of flavor. The crisp lettuce, dressing, and croutons that were included in the Caesar salad gave it a pleasing texture. A straightforward, well-known dish prepared skillfully.
I tasted their signature dish, Risotto alla Montanara, for the main course. The combination of its rich and creamy texture, different cheeses, porcini mushrooms, and golden egg yolk produced for an indulgent dinner that was well worth paying for!
Additionally, I enjoyed trying the Pici al Sugo di Manzo, which is a hearty pasta dish accompanied by a rich beef sauce. All of the wonderful flavors of the beef and tomato were perfectly absorbed by the chewy pasta, which was quite satisfying to eat. It was just what you would hope a pasta would be!
All in all, Prego had a cozy, contemporary Italian flavor that belonged only to them. The meal was served in ample servings at a fair price, and the relaxed yet elegant setting made the evening fly by. The staff were very attentive to their customers without being bothersome, and the service was professional yet charming. Prego is a great option that ought to be at the top of your list if you're visiting Bangkok and want real Italian comfort food with a...

If you’re craving authentic Italian dining in Bangkok, Prego at Amari Bangkok gives you the option of alfresco charm or cosy indoor vibes. With a solid Google 4.3⭐, I went in with high hopes. After tasting a few signatures, here’s my take — overall, I’d give it 3.8⭐ for what we tried.
Il Tiramisu – their house recipe with a Marcolua twist. Light, creamy, and the perfect sweet ending. If you’re near Pratunam or Great World Mall, this is the must-order.
🥗 Insalata di Cesare – crunchy cos lettuce, creamy Caesar dressing, and a smoky kick from the salmon. A refreshing start.
🍕 Prosciutto Crudo e Rucola Pizza – generous Parma ham and rocket leaves on tomato-mozzarella base. Honestly, the dough didn’t quite impress me — a bit lacking compared to other pizzas I’ve had in Bangkok.
🍚 Risotto alla Montanara – Chef Marco’s world-famous risotto, featured in the “100 Best Risottos.” Rich and creamy, but personally, it leaned too milky for my taste buds.
🍝 Spaghetti Carbonara – my personal favorite of the night. Perfectly cooked pasta with smoky pork, egg yolk, and a blend of parmesan + pecorino that made every bite comforting.
📍 Verdict: Chic spot for a catch-up with friends or a romantic dinner. Worth visiting for the tiramisu and carbonara, but the other dishes may vary depending on your taste.

Read morePrego is a good example of why I tend to avoid hotel restaurants. I allowed myself to get lured here by the happy hour cocktail special (2-for-1). To be fair, the cocktails tasted excellent, but after drinking 4 of them and not even having a slight buzz, even that turned out to be a disappointment. For food, we ordered several dishes to share. First, the pizza. I ordered it with extra tomato sauce and well done. They ignored both of those requests. PIzza was soft/limp/floury with barely any sauce. Gnocchi with tomato sauce and penne with salmon were much better, but the portion of salmon with the penne dish was pathetic. The worst part of the meal was the Lasagna. It was completely dried out and way beyond its prime. No one bothered to ask how our meal was. Also, they make everything extra complicated by not providing simple condiments on the table like olive oil and parmesan cheese; instead, you have to keep asking for everything extra all the time. For the same price we spent here, sitting outdoors in a terrible location enjoying a terrible meal, we could have gone to one of the city's top Italian places like Via Emilia and had a first...
