We spent two nights here on our return leg from Bangkok.||||From the airport (DMK), we (family of 4) took the airport shuttle (THB 450 for 4) to Samsen Road, Soi 5. It was a cool 35 min ride (around 8 pm so traffic was relatively less). The shuttle dropped us at Samsen Road soi 5. From there it was a 50 m walk to this place.||||Since this is a residence, there is no signboard. The land mark is a bakery called Teddy Bake. The homestay is the green door just adjacent to Teddy Bake.||||The homestay is quite old and crammed, however, the host is very hospitable and the whole place is full of antiques, from three generations. The outside main door is lined with dense lush green potted plants and orchids which are very welcoming. As you enter, you are greeted by a small Buddha temple with a little reception on the right. You then walk into a central dining area with an open courtyard a little ahead. The courtyard has an artificial waterfall and beautiful orchids. The three rooms are just right there.||||We were staying in the family room which had 2 doubled beds and one single bed. Linen, towels and bathroom were all very clean and tidy. The room itself is quite small leaving not much room to move around.||||The highlight of our stay was the home owner Tuk. She is extremely friendly and helpful. She engaged us in a very warm conversation and made us feel at home. Though we had not booked breakfast, she laid out an elaborate spread for us all for free. Delicious fruits, breakfast cereals, milk, tea and coffee. On the day we checked out, we were to leave at 5 am. We were pleasantly surprised with breakfast laid out at 4.30 am!! ||||The location is very quiet and yet so close to Samsen road. Khaosan is just about 100 m down the Samsen road.||||There is a cooking class about 20 m from the homestay which serves delicious, home cooked vegetarian meals. Must try.||||The joy of a homestay is meeting local, friendly people and having an experience to cherish for a life time. We got that at Cafe de Baan Raow!! Hence a 5...

Read moreThis was our first family holiday to Thailand and the first two nights we spent in Bangkok. If you are after just a bed to sleep in and some where to shower then this is the place. The accommodation it’s self is very basic but Tuk the lady who runs it is just amazing. Tuk was so helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we were looked after and helped us organise our days. Can not speak highly enough of this...
