Coffee at Roots is consistently good each time I've been here. I usually get a hot latte but haven't tried other drinks. They provide free water which is an excellent practice I wish more cafes and restaurants would do as well.
From a work perspective, this place is sub-optimal. There are some wall sockets available behind the counter (you'd need the staff to help plug you in) and the other seats & tables don't appear to have any access to power. There is free WiFi and it uses a local password for access.
There is parking available but it's free for 1 hour with a 100 baht purchase. Subsequent hours are charged at 50 baht/hour which is pretty expensive.
Lastly, the stools I sat on were very uncomfortable but the chairs look like they'd be better for longer work sessions. At least the design of the shop is aesthetically pleasing and there's a lot of natural light.
Overall it's a great place to hang out and chat but I'd recommend looking elsewhere if you want to sit and work on a device for longer...
Read moreStarted my day right with a morning visit to Roots at Sathorn. Though it is located right next to BTS Surasak station and Sathorn road, the cafe itself feels very private because of the greenery aesthetics in front of the store. Very spacious and nicely decorated with wood elements. Unfortunately, they didn't have a lot of breakfast offerings despite their kitchen size- only a selection of pastry items was available. For drinks we ordered Caramel Macchiato and Iced Chocolate. Their Iced Chocolate has a slightly sour taste to it as it is made from chocolate bars. For food we got their Ham & Cheese croissant and Cheese Stick. The pastries gave off a really buttery aroma when it came out of the stove! Really enjoyed the pastries- especially the Ham & Cheese croissant which had the right amount of flakey crust and ham and...
Read moreBeautiful artisan coffee shop with delicious coffee. They opened early on Sunday, so I stopped by for a pour over coffee and blueberry muffin. My black coffee was smooth and full of flavor as described. The muffin was heated up, kept it's moisture and the blueberries were plump. A nice morning bite before a larger meal with friends later.
I loved that they source all their beans from Thailand, which makes sense given their name. They had a cool map (see pictures) of where the farms are, but each of the bags list the percentage and location of origin.
The atmosphere was nice, with plenty of seating inside and free wifi. The music was a good beat and not too loud either. The service was solid, efficient and friendly. Definitely recommend it if you're...
