I have eaten here a few times over the years and can confidently recommend the place. The food: for me is 4/5 stars. The chicken while flavorful sometimes has too much gristle or parts that aren’t edible. The rice is slightly flavored, the broth they serve is the star of the show in terms of flavor. The staff: every person I’ve encountered here has been super friendly. The younger guy who butchers the chicken is always very friendly, cute and has a smile on his face. A very welcoming individual. 5/5 stars The atmosphere: small shop with maybe 8-10 tables, fans always blowing and a lot of pictures from over the years on the wall. Good chill ambiance. 5/5 stars Price: it’s $60THB for the small fried chicken with rice and broth. That’s comparable to other similar places. Cash only. If you’re in the area craving this then I would recommend. I have not tried the boiled chicken but that seems to be the more popular dish.

Felt that for chicken rice, probably better to eat during the day rather than night. The white chicken rice is actually good. Light fragrant rice with steamed white chicken, meat is tender and a good chewy texture. Disappointed with the fried chicken though as it was cold, and probably is night time and hence they are just selling the remaining fried chicken from the day, and will be nice if they actually re-fried it once before serving. Also didn't like the sweet chilli that goes with it, as it was super normal. Over here, there is no typical Hainanese chicken rice red/orange chilli but they have brown looking one, which was ok. One thing I do like also is the soup, very nice chicken stock-soup. Will recommend but maybe just for for the steamed chicken with rice.

During my Bangkok tour, i tried 2 chicken rice shop, one is the popular go-ang pratunam 红大哥水门鸡饭, the other one is less popular Sui Heng, Sui Heng definitely is the winner. Compare to Malaysia steamed chicken, Sui Heng steamed chicken taste is on par with those top chicken rice shop here, their rice and soup is better, their chicken intestine is better, their chilli source is better too, but they sell fried chicken instead of roasted chicken, so cant compare, their fried chicken taste good too. Those like sour soup, must order their lime soup with chicken. Although they not fluent in English, but they are so friendly and try very best to communicate with us by photo pointing and simple chinese + English.

While exploring the Charoen Krung area within walking distance from BTS Saphan Taksin, I discovered a true comfort food gem apart from Mr. Joe’s Kway Chap and Crab wonton noodle - this chicken rice spot. The combination of perfectly cooked rice, chili with black sauce, and clear soup makes an ideal pairing. I especially appreciate that neither the soup nor the chili has any sugary taste. The owner and servers are warm and friendly, with the owner also able to converse in Chinese. The environment is clean and homey.

Note: Fried chicken is typically sold out by noon. At this place, both Hainanese chicken and fried chicken are served fresh twice a day - once in the morning and again in the evening. Therefore, if the fried chicken sells out around noon, a fresh batch will...

Walking along the historic Charoen Krung Road, came across a variety of Thai-Chinese shops which many offering delicious food. For today lunch, I decided to go for a local chicken rice shop, popular among locals but relatively undiscovered by tourists.

The chicken was served in generous portions, and the fragrant rice was so good that I ended up having two bowls. The dipping sauce served on the side, taste perfectly by adding ginger and chili makes it a true Thai-style experience. Don’t miss the sour plum and lime soup, which complements the meal with its refreshing, tangy flavor. Tips, drink it with the small soup bowl and you will find the wonder!

The friendly owner and fast service were definite highlights. This was one of the best khao man gai dishes I’ve had...
