A sensation! Visited 11 December 2020. Italian-Argentine chef Mauro Colagreco's 3-Michelin star restaurant Mirazur in Menton was voted the world's best restaurant in 2019!!! Now we are very fortunate that the Capella Hotel Group has enlisted him to open an offshoot in their new hotel in Bangkok. This is, if I haven't lost count, his tenth restaurant. We arrived on Saturday lunchtime and immediately felt at home in the posh hotel ambience. We were greeted in the friendliest way and given a nice table with a view of the river. Then a culinary firework of the highest order began! For the aperitif, some delicious Amuse Gueules were served, then came the menu. We opted for the smallest menu with 4 courses, which is available here at lunchtime at a super special price. There are two starters and then a choice of two main courses and two desserts. Reading the incredibly extensive wine list took some time. Again, the price level is very guest friendly. The courses served by the professional team represented Chef Mauro's individual cooking style perfectly - creatively composed, full of flavour with an intense variety of aromas, of the highest quality, perfectly prepared but in no way overdone. An international, Mediterranean-influenced cuisine with a precision reminding me strongly of Alain Ducasse. The portions are very generous for a menu and we were already quite full when we were served four more delicious petit fours. The restaurant is further proof that Bangkok is increasingly becoming a gourmet hotspot. And a great replacement for the departure of Robuchon. What I didn't like so much: A table without a tablecloth and without sets, where the guests put their certainly not germ-free wallets, and then the cutlery just there. No local water or even just drinking water was offered. I have little understanding for European industrial water, senselessly shipped over thousands of kilometres. And a wine, carefully selected after a long agony of choice, was not available. I recommend buying a pencil with which you can make crosses on the wine list at the "drunk out" wines. But these are minor things, the overall experience was great, and the restaurant is certainly already one of the top establishments in Bangkok with a 1,500 km radius! Clearly, I...
Read moreThe is one of those restaurant that is very deserving of the Michelin stars! This is my second time here and it’s only getting better and better. The concept of Côte is surprise! That was rather refreshing. Most of the courses aren’t the same as the one I had last time. This season, I had
Crab meat with green tomatoes, and green tomatoes sorbet. This course is very refreshing and get your appetite going. This probably is one of my favourite dish.
Sword fish ham. This is really interesting. It taste exactly like ham, but less salty. However, it retains the texture of the fish. Well done!
Brittany Langoustine with Hay Hollandaise. Very beautifully poached. The langoustine itself was very sweet and fresh. Mix together with the sauce and it is just perfect.
Brill with Sake and Caviar. The fish has a very firm texture. If I were to describe it, it would be similar to the turbot. The caviar really bring out the buttery taste from the fish 😊
Wild Boar Consommé with Maitake Mushroom, Foie Gras and Cabbage Ravioli. The dish take you out from the previous tasteful dishes and prepare you for the main course.
Squid Bagna Cauda Sauce. Without a doubt, this is my favourite dish at Côte!
Australian Wagyu Tenderloin with Morels Mushroom and Beef Jus. The tenderloin is very tasty when you are eating with the beef Jus. The beef is beautifully cooked (medium rare) just how I like it done. Perfect main course.
Guava Granita with Apple Sorbet with a Hint of Chili. This is definitely something different (in a good way). I’m not much of a dessert guy, but this is great.
Strawberry Grape Sorbet and Chocolate Crémeux. Love the Sorbet, but I have to confess that I was so stuffed that I didn’t have any room for the chocolate 😅
All in all, it was a great experience. The service was great. The atmosphere was great! The food was...
Read moreMy husband told me that Capella has been voted the best hotel in 2023 and 2024. Therefore, I booked this restaurant to see whether it serves the accolades. I was running late as I could not get a taxi. I ended up taking the BTS and then a shuttle boat to arrive here. I walked past the buffet lunch restaurant. There was a wide selection of food with very fresh seafood and sashimi. I almost wanted to cancel my reservation at Cote by Mauro Colagreco and tried the buffet lunch! The French waiter Gwen helpfully explained to me what my selected menu included. I initially thought that I was given the choices for selection. I subsequently realized that I had selected kind of a tasting menu which included sea urchin, oysters, Crab from Britany (great for people like my husband & daughter who are not good with removing shells), caviar, salmon & my main course which was pigeon. I usually prefer seafood without seasoning but the way the oyster was cooked was delicious. Although I don’t normally take bakery or carbohydrate, the bread and desserts were so good that I could not resist them. When I told a waiter that I’m not a fan of olive oil, he explained to me that the olive oil was special blended with lemon and some herbs that was worth trying, even though he also served me a butter. I did try the special blended olive oil, which was refreshing and better than the ordinary one. The service was excellent. The food fully deserved the two-star.The ambience was good but there is room for improvement (perhaps because I had lunch at IGNIV yesterday that ambience gave a more exclusive feeling). If anyone wants to have a treat with good food, this is the place to go. When I come back to Bangkok next time, it is very likely that I...
