Giriftar Cafe — Restaurant in Fatih

It is surprising in the service sector that we are in the 21st century, and there is still a service that bad. By your presence in this restaurant and just because you speak any language other than Turkish, an amount of 10% is added under the pretext of service fees. Indeed, I do not know what the additional service is for and why the fees are charged. It is worth noting that we used to speak Turkish in addition to Arabic, but the workers decided directly that we were foreigners, and therefore additional fees were added. When we asked about the nature of this service, they replied that it is added to all customers. Nevertheless, we were sceptical about the matter, and we phoned the restaurant to be answered openly that it is added to any foreign customer. Indeed, it is very rude to pay extra just because you do not speak Turkish. The funny thing is that when we asked to delete the fees, they replied that this would be the last time they would cancel it and that if we came again, they would add the amount back. When we expressed our dissatisfaction with the service, we were answered that it was not desirable for us to visit the restaurant. Please pay attention to my comment and pay attention seriously to the bill you pay in this restaurant because you are clearly being robbed. Expectations did not come true. It was just terrible, the service is bad, the manager is rude. We ordered breakfast for two, when it was brought to us it did not correspond to the description in the menu, there were no basturma, croissants and grapes. When we asked why, manager told us that they ran out, but he decided not to tell us about it, we asked to deduct it from the price if it is not there, to which we were told that these ingredients were replaced with some sausages and bread, but these are completely different things, not compatible either in terms of price or quality. Even after that they stopped pouring tea for us, although it was also unlimited on the menu! And on top of that, they added 10% to the tip, which the waiter didn't deserve, we said we wouldn't pay for it, he started arguing and said it was written on the menu (in the end they took that 10 percent off the check). But I was most impressed by the incompetence of the staff, when we settled and left, the manager told us "not come again", it was the height of rudeness...

The café boasts a terrific view with a vast and nicely designed area. There are both upstairs and downstairs seating, creating a comfortable and versatile space. The presence of Arabic staff contributes to a friendly atmosphere. Notably, a Moroccan lady named Fatma was particularly friendly and helpful.

However, I rated the service 3/5 because of an extra charge for high-amount orders. We were charged an additional 250 TL for our large order that cost 1680 tl ( * called service fee), which felt like a punishment for ordering more. On a previous visit, they charged my three friends 150 TL, and this time, they claimed the 250 TL charge was already discounted. This policy made me feel unwelcome and reluctant to return. While they do provide service, as expected in any restaurant, this extra charge diminishes the overall experience.
