My daughter and I stopped in for drinks tonight as the outside seating looked so comfortable and charming. Unfortunately the cocktails didn't taste very good at all and the staff was creepy and invasive.
My Negroni was very heavy on the bitters, and her Cosmo tasted like artificial orange powder. That would have been fine, as the comfortable seats and views from the tables outside was enjoyable.
Unfortunately one of the men working there to lore patrons in made us extremely uncomfortable. I made the mistake of engaging in a moment of friendly conversation and then he wouldn't leave us alone and I didn't my like the way he called my teenage daughter "sweet' repeatedly in a single minute while not taking his eyes off of her. It was creepy and we left asap without finishing our drinks. He then tried to get us to stay longer and would not leave us alone. In the 20 minutes we sat at the restaurant he was at out table for 10 of them despite my attempts to tell him we wanted to talk just the two of us and weren't interested in any food.
On the up side, the seating is comfortable and they discounted our drinks.
Update: Based on the owners response to my initial review, I'm downgrading my review rating by one more star. perhaps they have such a high rating from threatened their clientele? regardless, the threats are baseless they cannot and did not take police action against my...
Read moreMy friends & I were brought to this establishment via child (long story.) We were then approached by a man standing outside the restaurant who welcomed us with open arms. His name is Salma. We were excited to try a local restaurant but ultimately they struggled making simple pasta and proceeded to argue and gaslight us into thinking it’s what we ordered. They served me chopped up pieces of bologna and called it sausage. The shrimp was as hard as a rock and when we said something he argued and told us that it was only cooked for 6 or 7 minutes. It was freezer burned. My friend asked for vodka sauce and he brought white sauce and said “it was a little too hard for chef, but I can bring you ketchup.” He was very serious. I think he might’ve been a little tipsy. He did attempt to remedy the situation by bringing us free tea and tiramisu but we had asked for the check many, many times. He also asked us why we didn’t eat our food several times, after we literally told him why. There was a moment where he sporadically threw a bread basket on accident. We ended up sneaking out and leaving cash because we felt uncomfortable. Ambience was not bad, performance from Salma was a 8/10 for entertainment purposes. We will however, be back next time we are in Istanbul to visit Salma but we will not be...
Read moreVery poor experience, all the meats are oven cooked! There's no way it's grilled. Do not waste your money!
Edit: we did eat at this restaurant,. despite the restaurant denying it, and threatening legal action over a public review 😂
I've just uploaded photo evidence that we ate there, plus a receipt!
Just to add to what I wrote above. The meat had zero coal grill taste, it tasted like it was oven cooked. In fact, the children didn't even like it, and they love Turkish grills!
The Hummus did not taste like anything we tasted before. The Hummus was truly awful, and we know what it's meant to taste like, we travelled the world eating it.
We did not order starters but they brought out the Hummus and bread as a compliment, but the bread was cold, who offers cold bread in Turkey?!
We ordered the fancy mix grill which was barely enough for two people, my son had a burger which was grisly and the bread was dry. My 7 year old explained it was dry, he's not a food connoisseur!
Despite not having starters, and no alcoholic drinks, the bill (as you can see from the receipt) came to 4,150 TL, that's £94!!
It's this sort of stuff that can ruin holidays, thankfully we found an excellent family run restaurant the next day, which was half the price for double the amount of food, and it...
