A Hidden Gem in Istanbul – Ross Kebab House
During our stay at the Sultanhan Hotel, my sister and I discovered a fantastic restaurant right next door—Ross Kebab House. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the classy ambiance and inviting atmosphere.
The restaurant staff didn’t have to work hard to convince us to dine there; the warmth of the place spoke for itself. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and even shared that he had once visited Chicago! Shortly after we placed our order, another young waiter brought us warm flatbread, hummus, and tzatziki, setting the stage for a memorable meal.
When our kebabs arrived, the presentation was simply stunning—vibrant, colorful, and plentiful. Alongside the perfectly grilled kebabs, we enjoyed pickled red cabbage and a fresh green salad, adding the perfect balance of flavors.
We enjoyed our meal so much that we returned the next day to try their grilled sea bream, and it did not disappoint! It was perfectly cooked, tender, and absolutely delicious.
To top it all off, we were treated to a complimentary dessert—a delightful serving of baklava, ice cream, and apple tea.

The food was genuinely very good — no complaints about the quality of the dishes. However, the service completely ruined the experience.
The waitstaff appeared totally disengaged: constantly on their phones, showing little to no attention to the guests, and lacking basic hospitality. After we finished eating, we waited over 15 minutes for someone to clear the table — simply unacceptable for a place that positions itself as a serious restaurant, especially considering the high prices.
Even worse, some of the staff openly flirted with solo female guests in a way that felt inappropriate and unprofessional. It gave the entire place the atmosphere of a cheap neighborhood café, not a respectable restaurant.
In summary: excellent food, but the service needs a serious overhaul. Until that changes, this establishment doesn’t live up to its reputation —...
Read moreThis place has a nice atmosphere as you can seat outside. The server we had was friendly. However, food quality and taste is very poor. We ordered steaks and it was not edible. They were hard and chewy. Their labeled tenderloin steak is not what was served. The Tbone was also horrible. The other dishes that my friends ordered which was a whole fish and another person got a falafel were also bad. They falafel was dry and no flavor and the fish my friend said it eas fatty. We went to this place under the assumption that the food was good based on the reviews, but this was a disaster. We were all dissatisfied with our meals and in fact this was our worse meal in Istanbul.
I think most of this positive reviews are given by people that get infatuation from them bringing you "free" stuff...
