Hocapaşa Fish & Meat & Kebap House — Restaurant in Fatih

I had such a memorable experience at Hocapaşa Fish & Meat & Kebap House that I just had to leave a review! From the moment I arrived, the warm atmosphere and the inviting aroma of freshly grilled food set the tone for a great meal. The menu had so many delicious options, but one of their most recommended dishes — the claypot — really stood out.

What made the experience even more special was Ali, one of the staff members. He was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and genuinely kind. You can tell he truly cares about every guest who walks in. He took the time to explain the dishes and make recommendations, and when my claypot arrived, he even let me personally open it, which made the moment so fun and exciting! The Chicken flavor was absolutely incredible — rich, tender, and perfectly seasoned. Definitely a must-try!

The restaurant has a great location with a lively street view, and the service is quick despite how busy it gets. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, and you can feel the passion they put into both the food and customer service.

Awful Experience, Would Not Recommend

We went in late at night as the waiter was welcoming and the menu looked promising. He said two mezzes and naan for starters would be on the house.

We ordered shish tavouk, lamb chops, adana kofte and prawns, all with pilav rice. The rice that arrived was extremely salty and not edible, and the lamb chops were undercooked. When I mentioned it, the waiter just said “that’s how chops are,” which was unhelpful.

We waited for replacement rice, which came mixed with vegetables instead of the pilav we asked for. Only the prawns and chicken were eaten. When we asked for the bill, they tried to charge us for everything, including the food we couldn’t eat.

Some of the staff were rude and confrontational, even saying they were happy for the police to be called. The man who initially welcomed us eventually corrected the bill, but the whole experience was unpleasant and unprofessional.

You really have to suck so bad in order to get a bad review from me, and today, these guys are the winners, food is great, location is perfect, however service absolutely suck, basically it depends on how you look and what you wear, so if you are a female wearing reviling clothes and exposing you self plus if you are willing to flirt with the guys "servers " they are around you catering to you to the fullest, otherwise you get forgotten, we get dipping bread and dipping oil came about 20 minutes later, they dropped your food on the table and you get looked at when it's time to pay, of course if you raise your hand. If I am the owner of this restaurant, none of this guys would be employed tomorrow, there is restaurant 50 feet from this place that I keep coming back every time I visit Istanbul, which means great service, service brings people back, which means money, if your service suck, you shouldn't be in...
