Well, I understand that Goreme is a touristy overpriced place but I absolutely didn’t expect such low quality & service at such unreasonably high price. It was the the smallest portion of the most tasteless food at the most expensive price I have eaten in Turkey. I ordered two portions of Tandir Corbasi soup which cost 50 TL and looked so delicious on their menu photo but in reality turned out to be a joke. When I came home to open a bag with food, my jaw dropped. There were just two small half empty cups (that probably had 1 ladle of soup each) with a small pita bread and 2 spoons. No napkins or wet towels that everyone else usually packs. I have eaten the same soup yesterday in Avanos town (that I paid 12 lira for) and the restaurant there gave me the same size of cup (just full of delicious soup) with a loaf of cut bread, a pack of freshly made salad, and 2 types of meze. Besides that they put a pile of napkins and wipes to clean my hands. Oh, and on top of that, they also provided an excellent service. After finishing the soup (which also had no flavor) from Anatolian kitchen, my husband and I were still hungry. I really don’t understand what we paid 50 TL for. I think this restaurant has either to learn how to provide a decent service and offer delicious fresh food or to be out of business. I can’t imagine if someone who comes to Turkey for the first time will eat here, he’ll be shocked what Turkish food is like. This is not a place where to eat an authentic Turkish meal. This is not a place where to eat at all. Better stay hungry or find...
Read moreI just had the most lit dining experience at this Turkish spot in Cappadocia, and let me tell you, it was straight fire!
First off, the vibe in this place was off the charts. It had that rustic, Instagrammable charm you'd expect from a spot in Cappadocia. You know, those cozy, cave-like settings that make you feel like you're in a real-life fairy tale. It was all about those good Cappadocia vibes.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the traditional pottery kebab. They bring this thing out in a clay pot, and when they crack it open at your table, it's like unveiling a treasure chest of deliciousness. The aroma alone had me drooling. Inside that pot, you've got a mix of tender meat, veggies, and spices that have been slow-cooked to perfection. It's like a flavor explosion in every bite.
The best part is that cooking it in clay gives it this unique earthy taste that you can't replicate anywhere else. It's like you're taking a bite of Cappadocia's history with every forkful. I swear, this dish is like a love letter to Turkish cuisine.
So, here's the deal: if you find yourself in Cappadocia and you're craving an unforgettable culinary experience, hit up this Turkish joint and order that pottery kebab. It's a taste of tradition that's gonna have your taste buds doing a happy dance. Just be ready to snap some Insta-worthy pics, and don't forget to bring your appetite and your sense...
Read moreWe received a recommendation from our hotel, Elysee Cave to have the Turkish pizza here. We are still yet to try it, but we have eaten here twice and tried a couple of dishes. My mum and I have shared these dishes since we don’t have a refrigerator for left overs and this is enough for both of us.
The manager Ramis was very friendly and attentive and we shared a lot of good natured bantering during the meal. To combat the bold flies who appeared during the meal, they burned what appeared to be coffee grounds which vacated the flies pronto !
We had the Testi Kebab and lentil soup the first day. The testi kebab is cooked in a clay pot for hours, brought to the table where they cut the pot open for you, to reveal the simmering lamb pieces cooked with tomatoes and pepper. It comes with rice. This is a local dish and is worth a try. The lentil soup is accompanied by a delicious flat bread. Be sure to squeeze the slice of lemon into the soup to add that tangy flavor.
Night 2, we had the lamb shish, which comes with rice, potatoes, grilled tomatoes and a spicy looking pepper which isn’t a tongue burner. Some of the meat was a little chewy but overall a decent meal. We of course had the lentil soup again. It’s become a favorite during our Turkish travels.
Great ambience, decent...
