Always excellent place for supper.

When visiting Antalya, if going for late supper at the evening, one might consider it difficult to find a place open at late hours. Luckily, there are ample of restaurants known as meyhanesi (translates as tavern) open. The very distinctive features of meyhanesi are, amongst the others, variety of excellent and rustique dishes, ample of mezes available, excellent selection of drinks, and most of all relaxed and even festive atmosphere. Begonvil matches all the mentioned definitions. I have visited this place for several occasions for the reasons listed below.

The variety of foods is excellent, whether it comes to mezes or main dishes, whether red meat or seafood or poultry, all crafted with finesse whilst maintaining rustique touch. The freshness has always been trademark of this place. The selection of wines alone makes this place worthy, always finding an excellent pairing for the dish.

The service was, from the very beginning, welcoming and excellent. Since been visiting this place so often, the staff already knows me and the service has become even more familiar. The service is naturally related to the atmosphere which, in taverns in general but especially in this place, becomes festive quite often: the locals celebrate in meyhanesis, whether it is a birthday or any other glad occasion, and the mood is overall happy, making even a tourist - such as I happen to be - cheering. Nothing is better testimony for the overall quality than the fact that locals find these places worthy as their venue of celebration. Almost always there has been live music, which occasionally might get quite loud, yet considering the excellent performers I certainly won't detest nor frown upon the music.

As stated earlier, I have returned here in several occasions, for every good reason: late business hours, excellent service, lovely food and festive atmosphere has made this place an excellent choice. Amazing service, fresh delicious food, amazing music and entertainment overall.

We had a salad, eggplant appetizer, yogurt with chili pepper appetiser, a grilled cheese- stuffed mushroom and grilled fish that we picked out. All of the food we split between 2 and were stuffed. We also got 4 beers and our total came out to around 800TL. Everything was absolutely delicious.
