World traveler with over 100 countries under my belt, so I’ve seen and tasted a thing or two. We have been in the Turks and Caicos for a week and this was hands down the worst dinning experience we had. First off our waitress was horrible, worthless. She spent more time texting on her phone and standing by the register than giving us any service. When we got there, they were probably only two other tables seated so it’s not like the place was slammed. We sat with our water empty for quite a long time before we had to ask the bus boy to bring us water. We got the conch ceviche for starters. It was bland and boring, nothing to write home about. My girlfriend got the fish and chips. It was like somebody had knocked over the bottle of oil on her fish, it was so greasy. Yes we know these are fried pieces of fish but the place that she had gotten fish and chips the day earlier on North Caicos was way better than this place. How can you really mess up fish and chips! I ordered the jerk chicken. The chicken seemed as if it had been boiled, and then slathered with some kind of jerk sauce. It wasn’t the good grilled jerk chicken that I had at other places here. I stomached through eating it because I wasn’t going to waste food, as expensive as it is here. As some of the previous reviewers have mentioned, I would’ve given them a zero if I could. The only thing good about the dining experience was getting up from our table and leaving to go back to our resort.

Came here for the beautiful atmosphere – tables around pom trees, great live music, and nice lighting. The conch here was amazing, so fresh we had to come back for more. The service, however, was awful. We had the same woman serve us both times we were there, and she was rude, inattentive, and simply did not do the basic restaurant server job. - She asked us within 10 seconds of sitting down what we wanted to eat (we hadn’t opened our menus yet), and then did not return for over half an hour. It was not busy by any means. - Asked us how our food was… 20 minutes after it arrived. If there had been an issue, it was long too late. - Had an ice bucket leak all over our table and she acted like it was a huge burden when we asked for paper towel to clean it up ourselves (because she wasn’t). - All empty drink cups, bottles, etc just left on the table. We were with friends that left early and we notified her, meaning “it’s okay to take away the empty cups”. She said ok and then walked away. Odd to look at a table with 10+ empty glasses on it and not see a job to be done. - Ordered a glass of wine and she brought me a completely different glass, refusing to repour or refund, saying that showing us the bottle it came out of (it didn’t) was enough (it wasn’t). Disappointing that you wouldn’t take the initiative for a happy customer and better tip. Really not difficult in an environment like this.

When in Rome, eat like a Roman! At least, that was my attempt, just Turks and Caicos style... How did that go??? Well... The restaurant is an inviting outdoor restaurant. With a anchored boat, converted as a bar, right in the middle. Wait staff was nice, but not necessarily native to the region. As advertised in the Turks and Caicos website, it claimed that this was a place to get authentic Turks and Caicos cuisine. Well... If that's authentic, then I'll... Pass. Present to the eyes, but so blend and blah to the taste buds. Three different dishes and they all were major disappointments! There was no seasoning. If it wasn't for the provided sauce I'm not sure more than 10% of all that food could have been consumed. And who knew that coleslaw and thousand island dressing/sauce was considered authentic. The website lied! The I only reason why 50% of the food was consumed was because they are so expressive, I really didn't want to waste my money (but I did cuz I the away the rest). So how did the get stuck a high review from previous guests??? I'm clueless!!! As they only got a second because of cleanliness and service. The food is tasteless without their imported thousand island sauce. Not even salt and pepper could justify the price to taste comparison. I will NOT be planning a repeat trip!!! It was a waste of time, effort and money.

What a way to begin a trip.

Let me start by saying nothing about this location says stay inland. The name is fitting... "Castaway."

Service for beginners - subpar. Waitress seemed disinterested and borderline annoyed being there. It's an island travelers expect welcoming vibes especially while vacationing. Questions to answers were met with annoyance and a figure it out style of response.

We started with lemonade that was purely water with a squeeze of a quarter lemon. In no way did this give fresh squeezed. In no way did it give lemonade. To add insult to injury when sent back, the gentleman took a sip to confirm inadequacy.

For example when asking for a different beverage we were met with, what's wrong with the lemonade. We said it tastes like water, do you possibly have passion fruit juice instead. She said we can add passion fruit to this. We said please, no. And asked what other options do you have as a tropical refreshing beverage. She said we can add the passion fruit to this. Keep in mind the beverage was full. All we did was take a long sip. This helped determine how bad it was and how it tasted like water with a squeezed lemon.

She ultimately said passion fruit is more money do you want it. Yes, we'll take it. We just don't want this AT ALL. Thanks.

Conch Fritters were our appetizers. This had some flavor but nothing exciting. To be honest flavor was only identified when the absence of flavor in other items was made evident. So yes, it had flavor that even if spread to other items would be insufficient.

We moved on to order lunch. Ordered a fish sandwich which was a $6 upgrade for snapper. What a disappointment. Dry and bland. Lackluster and lacking flavor. The fries had sprinkles of seasoning spread on them, offered no enhancement.

The snapper tacos ANOTHER disappointment. Not only was the fish also dry and lacking flavor, the sauces added to it as betterment did no such thing. In fairness and on behalf of the 2 star rating the passion fruit smoothie and fritters came to the rescue as the only decent things at this establishment saving it from ZERO stars.

While visiting an island if at all a food connoisseur or one with an extensive experienced palate, this place will not satisfy.

I strive to provide the most honest and thorough feedback when discussing food. There's something special about having a delicious meal. And something equally disappointing having one that is...
