My husband and I dined at this restaurant last evening. It’s a small French restaurant in the Regent Village in the downtown section. There is a small bar and restroom inside the building, but all of the dining tables are outside. The hostess who greeted us never cracked a smile including at the end of the evening when she took our payment. The young man who showed us to the table was very quiet and again no smile. The one female staff member who took our drink and dessert order did greet us with a smile, did not introduce herself though, and was very pleasant. I like when a staff member at a restaurant greets you and introduces themselves so you know who you’re dealing with. Even with the gentleman that came to take our food order, I had to ask him his name for my review because he was informative and nice. I came to find out he is the co-owner of the establishment. Julian was friendly and engaging and accommodating to my dietary needs. My suggestion to him would be to train his personnel on how to be more friendly and engaging with his clientele and to always welcome them with a smile. It does make a difference! Now onto the food… I ordered the caprese salad to start with. I have to say it was the best caprese I have ever eaten. The tomatoes and mozzarella were served on top of greens with kalamata olives in the corners of the plate as well as onion and cucumber. The best part, though, was the dollop of pesto sauce in one corner...it really elevated this salad. My husband ordered the conch chowder to start and the wahoo for his entrée. The soup was a generous portion and had a hint of spice and was full of fish. He also enjoyed his entrée as wahoo is not an easy fish to find on menus. I had the grilled lobster along with steamed vegetables as my entrée. Again, the portion was generous with two perfectly grilled lobster tails presented out of their shells. For dessert, we couldn’t make up our minds so I asked Julian to choose for us. A wonderful decadent chocolate mousse topped with whipped cream and a strawberry came to our table. It was perfect, light with an intense chocolate flavor. We really enjoyed our food experience at this restaurant. I would definitely recommend Le Bouchon for their selection of fresh fish and wonderfully prepared food. I hope that the staff, though, gets trained a little better as far as being warm and welcoming...
Read moreToday, my husband and I ordered food from your restaurant. I specifically ordered the snapper and chips (fries), 3 pieces. Upon receiving the food, everything initially appeared fine. However, once we returned to our hotel to eat, I noticed that the fish was burnt on the other side. As a result, I only ate most of the fries.
Due to a full day of excursions, we weren’t able to return immediately to address the issue. Later, when time permitted, my husband went back to inform the staff of the situation. The young lady who initially served us was kind, apologized for the inconvenience, and offered to remake the food.
However, shortly after, another woman — whom we assumed to be the manager — came out and stated that because several hours had passed, and because one piece of fish was missing and the fries had been eaten, she would only remake two pieces of fish.
In all my experiences dining out, I have never encountered a manager who refused to either remake the full order or offer a refund when there was a valid complaint. This felt like poor customer service and a missed opportunity to uphold the restaurant’s reputation.
After they remade the two pieces of fish, my husband ultimately decided to leave them behind, as it no longer felt worth the trouble. Frankly, the container the food was packed in likely cost more than those two pieces of fish.
Overall, this was a very disappointing way to handle a legitimate concern and certainly not how one would expect a business to ensure customer satisfaction.
Response: Let’s be clear — the timing of me returning my food is irrelevant. I’m not looking for anything from you; I’m pointing out a basic failure: a paying customer was served burnt food. That alone is unacceptable.
To suggest I returned the food “in bad shape” is simply false. The food was already burnt when it was served to me. That is the issue — not how it was returned.
My order was fish and chips: three strips of fish on a bed of lettuce with fries. I returned two untouched pieces of fish and a handful of fries. To call that “most of the meal” is a reach and feels like an attempt to shift blame onto the customer rather than acknowledge...
Read moreFood is good, I will say I’ve never heard of a cold cream brûlée, I have always had mine flaming or at least hot, but maybe that is just how the serve it here?? Tip: it’s not nearly as good cold. The main reason for the one star is the service, it was AWFUL! The waitress looked as if she hated being here, was so slow, had to signal her for everything... I can’t imagine how much money this restaurant loses due to the slow service. When our appetizer arrived we had every intention of ordering the shrimp pasta and lobster, however she hastily walked off and did not return for our entire order for 20 minutes, which we had to signal her over at that! By then, done with our appetizer, we were full and changed our minds on the entree. With full bellies, we ordered two more appetizers as our entrées. On our table alone, her being so slow cost this restaurant approximately $50. Usually you get that entrée order as soon as you bring the appetizer out, then when there’s tons of leftovers, we happily take it home... as a business owner myself I couldn’t help but think of the money lost for this family owned restaurant due to her slow, very unenthusiastic pace. All in all, even though the food was certainly good, when you dine you are wanting the entire experience, which includes atmosphere, staff, as well as food, the food was good but certainly I would not go back there, nor recommend to anyone because the overall experience was really bad. Can’t help but notice similar reviews, makes me wonder if the owner even reads them? Regardless I wanted to spend the time to write this one for other vacationers, too many things on the island to enjoy,...
